So, uh, it looks like a virus is going to hit Manhattan and turn everyone into a Venom-like character, at least in the very short term.

Swear to God I'm not making this shit up.

What do you want to bet they'll overlook the awesome storytelling potential of having Mary Jane (who has good reason to hate Venom) turn into a creature of the same type?

Or, wait, she's probably going to be out of the picture since Quesada's a dumb fuck.

I'm just assuming everyone in the Marvel Universe is a Skrull (especially Matt Fraction's The Punisher).

Ha. Wouldn't it be funny if when they get around to revealing who the skrulls are, everybody IS a skrull and all these different secret skrull factions who infiltrated Earth independently of each other have taken over different groups and were figuring they would have to take out the other good guys not knowing they were already skrulls, too. And then they get to that point where everybody reverts and they are all like "WTF?? We've had this planet conquered since 1962? Jesus fuck!!"

Oh shit, I hope Quesada doesn't read this!!

Who've you been talking to? Did Bendis tell you this? I disavow all knowlege of anything having to do with the Skrull invasion.
Was I right, or was I right? Single deal-with-the-devil Spidey is much more relatable than married non-deal-with-the-devil Spidey.

Okay, so now all the heroes are working for the government, going on missions and shit? Either that or they're on the run from the law?

This is dumb. It not only saps the "fun" from the heroes if they're more or less at the beck and call of Uncle Sam, but it totally flies in the face of everything that's established for some characters. Like Sleepwalker. An alien dream police officer trapped in a dude's head? Isn't he just going to tell the feds to shut the fuck up? I mean, he doesn't fucking care. Apparently in a recent issue of "Ms Who The Fuck Cares Marvel," he's summoned to work on such and such case with Marvel. That reeks so much of "what the fuck?" that it boggles the imagination.

Or Morbius. I can see him doing the right thing and registering, but then being essentially a government employee totally doesn't work here.

Am I understanding this whole deal right? Do they expect this to remain the same for the foreseeable future?

Also, I read up on the whole Wondra thing. I'm not even going to get into how retarded that is. If nothing else, if a former mutant wanted a suit to give her super powers, wouldn't she, uh, want some powers she's familiar with?

um... huh. wondra, huh? yeah, that's pretty dumbtastic.

for the most part it seems that some heroes are going about their daily business as usual. daredevil seems to be outside the current craziness, though still sort of in the continuity of the marvel u. the DD that appeared in civil war is (i think) the iron fist version - he was running around in a DD costume while matt was over in france laying low after his whole identity crisis thing.

not sure about other heroes, but as for morbius i could see him staying out of the entire thing all together, flying under the radar.

Yeah, one of the things I read was that Morbius was shown somewhere registering. Which is funny, because it doesn't address how he came back from committing suicide at the end of his book, twelve-odd years ago.

well, on marvel.com, at the bottom of his bio it says he was revived by Jacob Weisenthal (whoever that is...) and that he did in fact register with the SHRA and worked for SHIELD.

that is dumb.

See what I mean?

This is something about Civil War they either didn't consider, or thought about and somehow decided was a good idea. (Joe Q being in charge, that wouldn't shock me.) Aside from pitting heroes against heroes for no reason other than to have a year's worth of pointless slugfests, this introduces an unpleasant Big Brother feel to the entire universe. It seems like a bad idea to me, because A) like I said, it kills all the fun, and B) for a newcomer right now, they'll be wondering what the fuck is going on with Morbius: Agent of SHIELD.

And, uh, why would a guy's friend revive him under the circumstances? His life has been shit since he was turned into a vampire, and he tries to end it. I'm not a fan of suicide, but neither would I revive someone who became a vampire, had their life turn to shit, and killed himself, so that he could be a vampire with a shitty life again? With friends like these, who needs enemies?

I guess it's better than DC. Anyone trying to figure out what the fuck's going on over there?

This Skrull business now has an official name. "Secret Invasion". 8 issue Mini Series written by Bendis ( duh) and art by Lienel Yu, who is leaving New Avengers with issue 37, so he can do the Mini Series.

Bendis says its mainly in New and Mighty Avengers, but will affect Initiative, Young Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, etc. And he promises ALL your questions will be answered. Did you hear me? He promises.
