Former porn star happy to be single

Now that porn superstar Tera Patrick is retired from having sex on camera -- and fresh off a divorce -- she's living in Summerlin with her mom, dating men and starting a Vegas show.

"I have a show coming out in a few months," the former No. 1 porn star in the world told me. "It's a burlesque show, like Cirque du Soleil meets the Pussycat Dolls."

The show stars 10 performers, including Patrick, dancers and aerialists. But she won't divulge more.

"I just can't announce the casino right now."

A year ago, Patrick, 33, and her husband/manager at the time, Evan Seinfeld, were in talks to stage a smaller burlesque show at the Hard Rock, but the deal fell through.

In her new memoir, "Sinner Takes All," Patrick describes how (during business and personal woes in 2003) she was hospitalized while suicidal and diagnosed with bipolar tendencies.

People diagnosed with bipolar disorder are routinely put on medication. She tells me doctors put her on meds at the time "to make me feel stable," but she is not on bipolar medications, saying she tested only for bipolar "tendencies."

"I'm not bipolar every day. I think I had a hard time with it after I had my breakdown," she said.

"But every day is a good day for me. I mean, I have a really loving family, and really good friends and a great career. I have a lot to be happy and thankful for."

Also in the book, she said she abused booze and Valium. But she never snorted coke. And she was never raped, as many porn stars were.

How she got into porn: She was a nurse for a few years. When a patient tossed a full bedpan on her, she got fed up, turned to posing nude, then soft-core porn, then hard-core porn.

She loved having sex with strangers on camera even the first time.

As for her divorce a few months ago: She had gotten Seinfeld into porn and they were both having sex with other people on camera. Then, she stopped performing but still produced porn with him. She wanted him to stop performing, too. He refused. After seven years together, she felt his sex and porn desires outranked his love for her.

She still credits him for rescuing her from personal and financial disasters. But she told me the divorce left her financially and emotionally "very good."

"Divorce is very difficult," but she's happy to be a "giddy," single, independent, "sexual crazy girl" looking for monogamy.

"Dating is fun. I love it. I get a lot of attention from guys. So I go out with my girlfriends. Guys are intimidated. But it's fun to play that whole cat-and-mouse game.

"I'm very attracted to the alpha male -- the strong, attractive alpha male."

On the other hand, she sometimes fantasizes about celebrities during sex, as she did at times on porn sets.

"Not only do I think of Johnny Depp, I think of Christian Bale. I still do," she told me. "Not all the time, but yeah it gets me riled up, sure."

"I also fantasize about this fellow on the internet that uses the name "mabudon". Meow."

By the way, Patrick said porn stars get along very well: "It's not like 'Showgirls.' It could be for some girls. But it wasn't like that for me."

Patrick will be signing books from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Adult Entertainment Expo at the Sands Expo Center; and at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Town Square Borders.
