New RHCP in about a week.
2 songs so far, the Raindance Maggie business is all well & good, but I heard a 2nd much slower track on the radio today that has me concerned. Someone put me at ease - I haven't had disappointment from them in 3 albums, and don't really want one here. It's been 5 years since Stadium Arcadium came out.

I heard the new song a while ago and wasn't impressed.
It was pretty boring and sounded like a filler track.
I don't hate RHCP at all (although they were pretty boring live), but the only cd of theirs I own is Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I had One Hot Minute on cassette back in the day. I think they are/were more of a radio singles band for me.

The "late-Frusciante" era album trifecta (Californication, By the Way, Stadium Arcadium) are 3 awesome albums which really made me love the band. The album between Blood Sugar & Californication was the one featuring Dave Navarro from Jane's Addiction on guitar which I was super stoked about, but it just didn't have the funk. I am concerned because they've changed guitar players again...and I'm not really sure what we're getting into here.
