Re: Big score........
I helped my sister move from Ames, IA to Omaha after she graduated from Iowa State. While I was in town, I checked out the local comic shop and found a few items in their discount bins. I finished up a few mini series and caught up on some series I had dropped.
Batman Inc 5, 6. Caught up on this series I dropped.
Captain America Rebirth. A oneshot I skipped a couple weeks ago for $5. Much cheaper for $2.
All New Savage She Hulk 3. A Dark Reign mini. Now I only need one more Dark Reign tie-in and I'm finished.
Doomwar 2. All i need is the sixth and final issue.
Generation Hope 3, 4. Catching up a lapsed series I dropped.
Hulk 26, 27, 29. Pluggin holes from the Red Hulk series.
Savage She Hulks 1. from the Fall of the Hulks saga. Finished the mini.
Jonah Hex 13. Only need 2 more issues from this excellent series.
Prince of Power 3. Finished this Amadeus Cho mini.
Red Hood Lost Days 1 and 6. Finished this mini.
Red Robin 10 thru 13. The last four issues I needed for a full run (well, after I buy the final issue next month).
She-Hulks 4. the final issue i needed from last years mini.
Silver Surfer 4, 5. Only need issue 3 from this year's earlier miniseries.
Simon Dark 1. Last issue i need from this 18 issue ongoing from a few years ago.
Spectacular Spider-Man 5, 18, 20, 25. From the second series. Only missing one issue for a full run.
[Pointless] X-Men 5, 7, 8. From the lame Vampires vs Mutants series. Thank goodness I didn't pay full price for any of these.

Re: Big score........
I just read issues 5 and 6 and they were horrible. So I'm glad I'm not 'caught up' anymore. BatmanInc is the comicbook equivalent of epilepsy.
The funniest part is where Bruce thinks he can create a half dozen sockpuppet usernames to dissiminate misinformation on the internet that he's not Batman. Even if he stayed online 24/7 and never left the cave to fight crime, he wouldn't make a dent in swaying opinion. For being the world's smartest man, he sure is a dumbass.

Re: Big score........
More proof that there are entirely too many batman books being produced, if it's reduced to that. Does any hero REALLY need more than 1 book per month?

Re: Big score........
Not a score, but I got into storage today I grabbed a ton of old comics.
I grabbed all of the Breyfogle Batman comics I could find, which wasn't nearly as many as I'd have liked. And somehow Batman #457 where Tim gets to be the new Robin for the first time, and it is still in really good shape. Also, it turns out Norm drew Knightfall Part 1 (Batman #492). I did not know that. I assumed he was long gone by that time.
The first few Batman Adventures (TAS comic) and Shadow of the Bat.
Robocop 2 movie adaption by Alan Grant and Mark Bagley.
A handful of Marvel Comics Presents with cool Sam Keith covers.
Heir to the Empire and Dark Force Rising adaptions.
The three part Superman/Batman crossover that ran in the three Superman titles.
Some of the early 90s TMNT issues by Mirage. They had some weird/cool interpretations in these few issues.
Some of the TMNT Adventures by Archie.
Random Punisher stuff: a couple of guest appearances, War Journal #42 (the very cool "Ten To One" story), some Suicide Run and Countdown, War Zone #1-3, Punisher Edge #1-2, Angel Punisher bullshit mini and Marvel Knights #1).
TMNT Book 3 trade by Eastman and Laird - Cerebus shows up.
The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told Volume 2 featuring Catwoman and Penguin - Random stories from 1940-1987 - guess when this was released?
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm adaption - the free version that came with the VHS.

Re: Big score........
On Saturday, I went to a dealer show and picked up 438 books at roughly 30 cents an issue. I put major dents in some series like Peter David's Supergirl, Sensational Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Superman titles. And found some great old issues of Avengers and IronMan.
I'd go into more detail, except I just spent the last hour or so being more thorough and listing them like I usually do, and when I went to post the list, my internet said "Fuck you, buddy!" And stopped working. I don't feel like doing it all over again.

Re: Big score........
I went to a "Garage sale" of a dealer who has too much stock to bring to dealer shows he goes to, so as an incentive to drive to his place in Wyoming, IL he gives even better deals than he does at shows. I ended up with 3 Long Boxes filled with 1035 comics for $220. Thats about 21 cents a book.

Re: Big score........
Nice score there. I remember that being overall a very solid series. The status quo of "Jay is retired, Barry is dead, Wally is the Flash, and Bart is Impulse" should never have changed. Not that I'm against change, but all they did was roll it back to a less interesting status quo by pretty much killing everyone who came after Barry.Rollo Tomassi wrote:Impulse. 27 issues. Re: Big score........
It looks cheeky. And it came out at the same time as Young Justice and Superboy and I think all three were geared towards a humorous slant, so I'm looking forward to reading it.anarky wrote:Nice score there. 27 issues. Between this haul and the one from a month ago, I went from having none of this series to having 2/3rds of it for about 5 bucks.

Re: Big score........
Not a "big" score, but I found 30 or so recent books on eBay for a buck each.
Black Panther 516.
Green Arrow 9, 12, 14. Only 3 issues away from finishing his last series before DC closed up shop forever.
Hulk 632. For some reason I missed this a couple months ago.
Iron Age 1, 2. It's always fun to find $5 books from July for a buck!
Knight&Squire 4. Only missing issue 6 to finish this mini.
LoSH 13. Only missing the last 3 isssues now.
Mystery Men 1, 2.
Scarlet 2-5. Bendis and Maleev's book. Every issue in the series except 1 for a buck.
Spider-Girl 4.
THUNDER Agents 5. Starting to work on this shortlived but acclaimed DC series by Nick Spencer. It was good so natch DC canned it.
Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates 3-6. The other half of the Death of Spidey story.
Ultimate Doom 1.
X-23 11.
Pointless X-Men 12, 13.
And the big find: a bunch of the DC Retroactive oneshots. Since these were $5 each it's gratifying to find them for $1. I got Flash 70s and 80a, GL 70s and 80s, JLA 80s, and Superman 80s.

Did you like Scarlet? It was nothing mind-blowing, but I thought it was really good.Rollo Tomassi wrote:Scarlet 2-5. Bendis and Maleev's book. Every issue in the series except 1 for a buck.
I hope it continues before too long.

Re: Big score........
I know this isn't what these are, but why the hell did Dark Horse never do anything else with that Mystery Men? I know it's creator-owned, but, really, you're telling me the creator (wasn't it the Flaming Carrot dude?) never wanted anything else to do with it?Rollo Tomassi wrote:Mystery Men 1, 2.
I'd fucking kill for an ongoing continuing where the movie left off. And, even though it bombed, comic readership being what it is, I imagine it would actually sell enough copies to make it plausible at this point.
Keep meaning to look into these. I really want a few; I know off-hand that I need GL 80s, Superman 80s, Superman 90s, and the Batmans. Wasn't one of the Justice Leagues the JLI by Giffen and DeMatteis, too?And the big find: a bunch of the DC Retroactive oneshots. Since these were $5 each it's gratifying to find them for $1. Want to see my plight? Go to http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=csl and look up a Coachella Valley zip code. Better known as the fucking Palm Springs metro area, about ten small cities stretching about 30 miles east-to-west (and mostly narrow along that corridor. If you want a comic shop, the nearest is in Moreno Valley, 40-odd miles away, and, despite going to MoVa regularly, I have no clue where it is and think it's actually been closed for a while. There's one in Redlands, a couple of miles further, but they're assholes there.
I just don't get it. We're talking about a major metropolitan area, and the "last chance" at civilization heading eastbound from LA, at least until you get to Phoenix about three or four hours beyond there, and there's nothing. No comic shop. Now that Borders closed, the only place to get paperbacks is a really small Barnes and Noble at the mall. Even TRU moved from a prime (but older) location pretty much dead center in the city of Palm Desert to the far end of Indio (the furthest city east, unless you want to go check out the crumbling ruins at the Salton Sea, about a 30 minute drive beyond its previous location), so they're out.
Like I said, I don't get it. We're not talking about a small town with 30 people who don't read. It's a rather artsy, upscale bunch of cities with a population that, by and large, don't do their shopping online if they can avoid it. If I had the money and inclination to open a bookstore or comic shop, by God, Palm Springs (or one of the adjacent cities) would be the first place to come to mind.
I mean, I'd really love to support local businesses, but, if there are no local businesses of the sort I'm looking for....

Re: Big score........
I havent read any of them yet. And that includes Scarlet.
Mystery Men is a Marvel mini about the heroes that were around in the Marvel U Before the Human Torch and Namor and the rest. It's set in the 30s. And speaking of DarkHorse they're actually filing suit over the name. I think it was ballsy and reprehensible of Marvel to just go and use somebody elses property like that. But I guess they've got Disney lawyers now so...
Hidden,DeMatteis, and Maguire did the 90s JLA book I think.
