Brian Michael Bendis

Post by jjreason »

Kicks other modern comic book writers in the balls. Not only do his takes on established heroes (Ultimate SPidey, MK Daredevil - who am I kidding, you all know this) kick so much ass proctologists have him on their "employee of the month" boards, but his original creator owned property POWERS is one of my new favorites. The first issue of POWERS might be the best #1 issue of any book I've ever read. So much shit happens in 15 minutes of reading, you need to go back and see it again. I can only hope ebay lets me fill in the last few blanks in my run of this book so I can read it all at once. Brian Michael Bendis creates what's happening right now. Talk about snappy, Bendis' dialogues make him the Elmore Leonard of the comic book medium. Brilliant.

yeah, powers is awesome - they've been collecting the entire series in TPB form - don't know if you're looking to get a series of originals or not, but they are readily available for you... you can get them from his website, through the back of more recent books (i think) any local comic book store worth their salt, or you can buy the entire set from my local store's website (soon, anyway...) http://www.grasshopperscomics.com

Dig it. I'm only missing 7 original issues right now, and they're still not over the top in price. I just got a #1 from ebay shipped to me for 7 bucks. Totally awesome comic.

Bendis is on Avengers now. Giving him access to every Marvel tentpole character is AWESOME. I read issue 4 and nearly fell out of my chair laughing from all the interaction and references to the sum whole of the Marvel Universe continuity. His Spider-Man is brilliant. When he said this was issue 1 of his 500 issue run, I hope he wasn't lying. Getting better and better.

Bendis' legendary run on Daredevil ends on next week. And he's dropping Pulse.

But on the plus side hes 14 issues into New Avengers and every issue is better than the last. I seriously think if I was forced to cut my reading down to one title a month it would be N'Avengers.

I just finished reading Spider Woman Origin #1, and it was very good. I'll be along for the whole 5 issue ride.

New Avengers 14 came out? I didn't get a copy in my stuff.......

Bendis just finished his 8 year run on several Avengers titles and started up the two new X-Men flagship titles, All New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. He's also starting the Guardians of the Galaxy book next month, which coincidentally has a big ol' movie coming out next year.

And I think he's getting close to the 200 issue mark on his baby, Ultimate Spider-Man. Wow.
"No Tom Foolery today, Ron. I'm tired of looking at your dreadful, speckled mug."
"Why do you hurt me in this way, Harry?"
