Re: Image Comics
Saga is back from its hiatus on July 31st.
I just realized when I did my ‘S’ box read, I left Saga to read last…and then never read it.

Sad to have lost my last 12 e-issues in the separation (we have separate amazon prime accounts now & she has access to all the kindle stuff - i asked but they cannot move it over.... which includes about 1000 comics left over from the comixology merge as well ugh) but I'll be excited to read a new chapter.

Re: Image Comics
Is Casanova by Matt Fraction and Gabriel Ba any good?
I’ve never read any of them. I have a few issues, but I just realized they’re from the Acedia mini. I’m just wondering if it's worth it to put the other series, including the original run on my want list. None of them seem to be expensive; it’s just a matter of putting them on my radar when I’m shuffling thru boxes at shows.

Re: Image Comics
I have not touched that one. In fact I have not heard of that one. A quick google search reveals I'm not in love with the art & the premise is only vaguely interesting to superhero preferring me.

Re: Image Comics
I’m basically going thru the complete publisher’s list on comicbook realm, and looking at anything that lasted long enough to be more than a 4-6 issue mini. Then looking at the creators names to see if I dig their other stuff. Series like Black Science, East of West, Dept of Truth, Descender, etc.
I’m not writing any of them down yet, but I see a lot of them in boxes at shows.
What I never(or rarely) see in back issue boxes, are older issues of Spawn or Savage Dragon. Those image books have been running since ‘92 but apparently whomever is buying them is keeping them forever.

Re: Image Comics
Youngblood #100 comes out next week. It’s technically the 6th issue of the current ongoing. I was very skeptical that there truly had been 100 issues of Youngblood since the first series only made it to issue 10, and from what I can recall, all the subsequent attempts to start it at a variety of different publishers only made it like one or two issues in before Rob would get sidetracked.
But a Reddit user did in fact do the research and, admittedly with some creative accounting, there have been “100” issues. Go figure.

Re: Image Comics
man, in my mind's eye Youngblood just looks like AI slop that was trained exclusively on X-Men and X-Force comics before AI was even a thing.
and to get to just #100 in 2026... just for reference, i checked out Savage Dragon and it's on issue #280, Spawn is on #377. that's hilarious.

I really want to read Savage Dragon, but I can't even tell for sure that they publish collections.

Re: Image Comics
Larsen exclusively writes and draws every issue of Dragon himself. He’s not on any kind of schedule, so they come out whenever he’s done with an issue, be it 1, 2, or 7 months in between issues. He also regularly does like giant 96 page issues if he feels like it.vynsane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 22, 2026 12:32 pm man, in my mind's eye Youngblood just looks like AI slop that was trained exclusively on X-Men and X-Force comics before AI was even a thing.

Whereas McFarlane has routinely farmed out the writing and art duties on Spawn. Even if he’s consistently credited as writer, he more or less comes up with vague story ideas and leaves the actual dialogue and page breakdowns to others.
That’s why Spawn is on 377 and Dragon’s only on 280.

Re: Image Comics
yeah, i get the difference between Savage Dragon and Spawn - mainly the comparison was against Youngblood and both of those. i honestly didn't even know YB was still around in any capacity.

Re: Image Comics
Same. I only knew it was on issue 100 because I saw it on the solicit’s list for that week(with its roughly 25 variant cover extravaganza) and it prompted my skepticism.
Here’s a brave soul that inventoried every Youngblood and YB adjacent book that got to issue “100”
