Next up on ASM is going to be Zeb Wells with art by John Romita Jr. I do not like the way he has trended over the past few years, but the teaser cover for issue 1 looks really good. I may have to jump back on for a few issues.

Something looks very off with Spidey.
I think he skipped leg day.

Certainly appears to be carrying most of his weight above the belt. Maybe that's why MJ looks dejected.

JRJR has been phoning his work in for years. Yuck.

And can we please stop with the Peter/MJ break up drama? Every time they do this, it just feels like Peter is “cheating” with whatever GF dujour they give him for a handful of issues.

So it came out yesterday. I did not attend a shop to purchase any copies. Instead, I went to amazon.ca to try & purchase a digital copy.... but they want 8.99 for it. 8.99. digital copy...only. No comic to have & hold. Not happening.

Yikes. I only bought it for the Artgerm cover.

Walked through the comic store on my lunch break this past week & picked up ASM 900. The interior art actually seemed pretty polished. Cover price was $9.99 US for the fairly chunky (must have been an 80 pager) squarebound issue so I left it there. I was saddened briefly to realize that next month I will have missed 100 issues. :(

Amazing Fantasy 1000 came out today for a slightly reasonable $7.99 considering its size. Haven’t read any of it.

I couldn’t convince myself to get the main JRJr cover, because his art is ass. Got the Campbell variant instead, which was a fairly pedestrian cover itself.

Amazing Spider-Man 26 hit stands today. I got the main cover and the Spoiler cover(which is a black glossy cover to cover up the real spoiler cover under it.
The spoilery part is they killed off Kamala Khan, Ms Marvel, who has her own TV show and is gonna be in a movie in November. This seems like an intentional headline grabbing move and like most comic deaths won’t be permanent.

I flipped through it. The writing on it is really bad.

They’re doing a sequel to Spider-Man:Reign.

“Which one is that?” you may ask yourself “Oh wait, is that the one where they showed Peter’s pickled pecker? And, oh! Is that the one where MJ died because she got cancer from Peter’s baby batter??”

“Oh damn, I’ve been waiting for a sequel to that series!” said no one ever.

I'd like a sequel to One More Day where everything is restored to that point, but everyone gets to kick Mephisto in the nuts once or twice, and Mephisto looks like Joe Quesada. Also everyone who smoked, especially Ben Grimm, puts their cigars out on his balls.

Oh, and un-revive Aunt May. She had one of the truly great comic book deaths. It was blasphemy and insulting to bring her back then, and it still is now. Really. Her admitting to Peter she's always known he was Spider-Man is one of the top five pages in comic book history.

What’s actually dumb is that all his major villains know he’s Spider-Man at this point. Norman knows. Otto knows. JJ Jameson knows. Venom knows. Carnage knows. Kraven knows. You get the point.

So May isn’t “safe” from all his rogues anyway. Hell, half of them would help him if she were in danger and they were around. So there’s no reason to keep lying to her. At this point all it’s doing is making him look like an irresponsible asshole when he misses all the important plans they make with each other because he’s a fucking adrenaline junkie.

They are relaunching Amazing Spider-Man again in April.
This will be the seventh relaunch.

The original in ‘63.
The second (unheard of at the time) in ‘99. Which eventually reverted to the original numbering.
Then again in ‘14.
The fourth in ‘15.
The fifth in ‘18.
And the current series started in ‘22 and wraps up in March.
