They were showing ESB on the boat yesterday and the line "If they made the jump into hyperspace they could be on the other side of the galaxy by now" struck me. Going off of the books and other media (which is allegedly thrown out but fuck that) going from one end of the galaxy to the other takes a loooooong time but going off of movie cues Piett said this after only an hour or two at the most after the Falcons attack run and ruse. I'm just wondering if there was any definitive numbers put down for hyperspace travel.

The movies always put hyperspace travel as being super-duper insanely quick, even after the books and games had said otherwise for years. Revenge of the Sith is supposed to take place over three days, IIRC, even with all the hopping around the galaxy. Going off the EU, it took six months, minimum.

Of course, the EU ignored that the Rebels regroup outside the galaxy at the end of ESB (you can see the fucking entire galaxy!). And ESB never gave a real answer of how the Falcon got to another system entirely without a hyperdrive.

They planet hop in AOTC as well and it doesn't seem to take long. And the EU did always talk about how you can't travel out of the galactic gravity well...yet an entire fleet did in ESB.

The Falcon in ESB I really always did assume took a long time to get to Bespin and it coincided with Luke's training taking weeks/months possibly. or the Falcon happened to break down in the near vicinity of the Bespin.

I assumed the "other side of the galaxy" line was just a phrase or over-exaggerated statement.

I thought I remember a 4-Lom story that addressed them rendezvousing outside the galaxy at the end of ESB. But it's been awhile.


So, Alan Tudyk and Mads Mikkelsen are also in Rogue One. I'm assuming they're playing the Imperials.

Guess I'm rooting for the bad guys in this one.

Yeah, the Tales from the Bounty Hunters had the story of them and they mentioned leaving the galaxy. I'm not sure if it was that story or not but another one mentioned that a lot of ships from the fleet in the end of ESB didn't make it because it's a tough trip to get out of the galactic well.

That Rogue 1 pic could be right out of the Firefly pilot. Interesting how it appears the inspirations have come full circle.

I'm a bit worried about Disney's apparently throwing out the EU only to tell basically the same damn stories.

The latest (to me at least) bit of information is that there's something called the Starkiller Base, and it has the power to destroy solar systems.
