Maybe he cannibalized R-3PO.

Find out how he stays so youthful looking for over 60 years in R2-D2 #1.

R2-D2 #2 features the first part of a crossover between all the Star Wars comics, wherein an extragalactic invasion comes in the form of the Whizzing Bong, a race of aliens who hate technology.

R2-D2 #3 contains a flashback to his time on the Sandcrawler. We learn that it was the Jawas that caused R5-D4 to short circuit because they used him as a fleshlight.

Skippy #1 contains a flashback to the time of the Sandcrawler. We learn that Skippy used a Jedi Droid Mind Trick on R2 to make him think that the Jawas used R5-D4 as a fleshlight. It was really Jaxxon and Skippy.

I was gonna say this. Has there been any reasonable explanation for the leg?

Not that I know of. Which is crazy, since there's over 30 years of EU, and they explained even minor shit like why Chewie's hair was cut differently in ROTJ.

Another reason the EU sucked: it HATED the droids.

What're you talking about? It loved the droids. If by droids you meant a big titted, Twilek, Mandalore, Sith, partial robot, that wielded a multiple bladed lightsaber.

I lied. I'm reading it. All 120 pages I've suffered so far have been that bad & worse at times. There are 2 characters you will know from the movies (and a 3rd if you REALLY, REALLY stretch - I'm not sure if stretching even that far gets you to 3 but I digress) & neither one of them has had any meaningful page time. I honestly thought this would follow the main characters paths leading to TFA and introduce the new generation heroes - nothing close to that yet. A fool & his money are easily parted. At least I wised up & returned the 6" Rey to get those $28 back.

Okay, now that the "please don't hate us because of the Prequels because I swear we're not the Prequels" bullshit of the earlier trailers is gone, the latest one actually looks damn solid.

I am NOT going to watch it. I'm going to try my damnedest to avoid the new trailer and any and all other spoilers for the next two months.

It's going to be extremely difficult. It's going to require minimizing my time on genre websites like CBR. And avoiding SW-centric topics here and other places.

But I'm going to try. Wish me luck.

If you're still here, there's still an awful lot of people who really need to temper expectations. Each Prequel looked better than the one before, if you only look at the trailers.

I do find it amusing how many people are ordering tickets in advance. I have this thing about service charges; I don't pay them if they're at all avoidable. And this isn't May; I'd rather not have to schedule Christmas stuff around a movie, but the other way around.
