to be fair, i'd wager the story itself is going to be killer. robert kirkman is writing. this is the culmination of his calling todd out at SDCC last year to challenge him to return to his roots. unfortunately, he's grown rusty (not that i ever fully dug his artwork as much as i did, say, erik larsen, who was always the comparison). but this piece is absolutely atrocious. less attention to anatomy than even before (that right leg, that right hand?) the ecto-jism that's emanating from his, what, ass? the thumb perfectly positioned where his dick would be? the lame spider-man/spawn/carnage ripoff design? the same damn spider-manish pose we've seen from him over and over and over?

all that said, he's actually only going to be on cover duties and (unfortunately) character design. someone else is going to do the page-by-page duties. and the story sounds interesting.

Sweet fuck, that's lame.

Before reading the post, I figured it was Spider-man related (like that goofy looking Anti-Venom thing a few months back).

Yep, looks very borrowed from Spider-Man - everything from the pose to the suit to the ecto(web)plasm.

the NYCC announcement that ryan ottley will be doing finished pencils over greg capullo's breakdowns with digital inks by mcfarlane has me thinking this will be a lot more worthwhile.

How fucking hilarious is it that the six issue Image United series, which started in Fall 2009, is stalled on issue 3 which came out last Summer? Allow me a single derisive snort.

McFarlane has been writing Spawn for the last 20 issues under a fake name.

Why? Nobody buys your book either way, Toddo. What were you trying to prove? Other than that you're an egotistical ass?
