And he still is the best TF artist ever!

Soooooo, given that Prime and Megs start off going into a space bridge configured for one and vanish, then this "Fallen" guy shows up. . . and Furman's best classic storyline dealt with two enemies being merged in a space bridge accident, methinks Fallen is somehow a combo of the two from the faaaaaar future. Look closely at him; he really looks like a cross between their two War Within selves.

And friggin' Armada Megatron beat Galvatron even as corny little Armada 'Bots beat super-ninja Bludgeon? WTF???

TF/Joe #2 came out. Snake Eyes is the friggin' shizz in this book. Cauterizing his own face wounds with a flamethrower just so he can chase down Stormshadow? That has fuckin' hardcore boy! When this series is over, Devil's Due needs to get Jae Lee to do an ongoing SE book. There's a dearth of good NINJA comics on the market...

The big robots are BACK! Written by Furman!!! And starting from scratch continuity wise! That means no clumsy integration of the cartoon and Marvel series at some vague point in the future like Dreamwave was trying to accomplish. Every issue I read left me with the vague feeling I had read it before, because you couldn't differentiate between issues.

And in a related ruminitions, seeing the trailer for Michael Bay's new movie the Island got me SUPER excited for the Transformers movie. I know there are plenty of Bay detractors out there, but the guy can do BIG action. Too bad about George Clooney being OPtimus though. That's the first chink in the armor for me. I think part of it is because he has a distinctive cadence and sound to his voice that I'll just be visualizing him in a studio reading his lines every time Prime speaks. There are plenty of baritone and bass voiced talent in Hollywood, there's really no need to go with a "name" actor like Clooney other than to have his name plastered at the top of the poster. My choice would be Dennis Haysbert or Avery Brooks.

Here's hoping they actually have some idea that these are actual characters, not a bunch of interchangeable giant robots. Seriously. Except for the slightly confusing War Within serieses, Dreamwave's stuff was heavy on pretty pictures and really light on story. The whole Sunstorm story arc and not knowing what the hell was going on after reading twenty straight issues of various series really killed it for me.

So is it confirmed Clooney is Optimus? That's. . . weird.

I don't know if he is for sure. I read that on DarkHorizons about two weeks ago, but I haven't seen shit about it since. Garth is usually pretty accurate about such things on his site.

If it is true, it bites sour smelling donkey 'nads.

Part of that Sunstorm storyarc is I didn't realize Jetfire and Skyfire were two different characters until the third issue or so. I mean, it's a cool concept since they were different designs, but they could and should have made it clearer. The new publisher, IDW, says all the unpublished Dreamwave stories are tied up in bankruptcy, but eventually they want to put out specials to tie up those loose ends. Even though they are starting from scratch...WITH SIMON FURMAN! Awesome!!!

I think I read Furman's only confirmed for the first story arc, but at least they recognize that cool pics and no story does not a true comic book make. He should get it off to a good start, if nothing else.

Keep your fingers crossed that Wildman, Senior, Batista, and Yanniger will work on this at some point.

I would not care too much for the return of Jose Delbo. His TF pics looked terminally goofy.

Both Jim Lee and Mark Texeira contributed covers at one point or another. Tex was early in his career (#4) and was a pretty meh picture by him. (I wondered for years what the "Texeira" on Megatron's back was for.) Jim Lee did a nice pic of an amazonian warrior beheading a Pretender, and an image of Galvatron that may be the coolest TF image ever.

I don't like the term "stylized" when referring to artwork. It makes me think the artist can't do normal looking people and so passes his art off as "quirky" and "cutting edge". Humberto Ramos is one who comes to mind in this category. Anyway, thats how they are touting the art of the new TF artist. I flipped through the sketchbook at Comic Con back in July and was NOT impressed. There were no robots in it, but the people he drew looked like 9th grade amateur hour. Not a good sign.

#0 comes out in two days, so we'll know then. (sigh) then we have to wait until January for the first real issue.

Anyone remember the original series and how Spiderman was in it? That was top shelf writing.

Spider-Man, El Chux...with a hyphen. Jeesh. Philistine.

Also Nick Fury and Dazzler were in that series (okay so Dazzler was only on the radio...). The Savage Land showed up too!!

I concur with El Chuxter. Merry Christmas, Deckard. [beard]

The military used GIJoe Wolverine-style tanks (I don't think they're standard issue) against Megatron, too. And Snake Eyes passes some leftover "Decepticons Rule!!" grafitti (from the mediocre "Decepticon Grafitti" issue) when he thinks Scarlett is dying in the hospital, many years later in his book.

What else? Didn't Circuit Breaker join the other heroes of Earth in Secret Wars II? I seem to remember hearing that, but never confirmed it for myself.

I just wish the fucking NeoKnights could have spun off into their own book. Yes, I'm probably the only person alive who'd say that. But imagine Thunderpunch and Circuit Breaker and company going up against Ultron or a group of Sentinels. That's assuming Ultron could ever develop the power to realize he's a fucking homicidal robot and stop pussyfooting around and actually try to, oh, I don't know, kill humans or something?

Well off on the Ultron tangent, didn't he take over a European Country and basically kill millions a few years ago? Avengers 19-22.

Circuit Breaker would make a cool Marvel Book. I think GB Blackrock was supposed to be Tony Stark before it went off into its own continuity. The NeoKnights were meh.

Transformers:Infiltration 1 came out. I got the Bumblebee cover. This is just what the series needed. Fresh start, free of all the continuity built up and confusing between the old Marvel series, the cartoon, and the nebulous melding of the two in the Dreamwave series. Okay it was mostly picking up where the cartoon left off except it took place before the movie ( I think) and subsequent 3rd and 4th seasons. And it was going nowhere fast.

The new series is taking its time to build a solid foundation, so only a few TFs have shown up so far. Suprising use of Runabout and Runamuck for the Decepticons. Now if we could get Topspin and Twintwist to show up on the Autobots' side it'd be kickin!!!

I heard the 'Cons are developing an invasion over a long period of time, with the first stage being infiltration (thus the title). I doubt we'll see any characters with funky alternate modes for a while, unless they get major facelifts.

I did pointblank say to one of the guys from IDW at Comic Con, "Is Grimlock going to be a traitor in your version? That really bugged me about Dreamwave's version more than the lousy stories. Grimlock may be shifty, but he's not evil." Apparently that had bothered them as well (though there was some disagreement as to how shifty Grimlock could be and whether he was a moron or a crafty genius who talked funny), but it sounded like they're big fans of the big lug, so I'm confident he'll show up eventually and (very importantly) on the right side of the Autobrand.
