Gambit made an appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but yeah, Tatum has been trying to get Gambit going forever and has gone through several directors. I actually thought the project was dead now.

“Removed from Schedule” doesn’t sound good.
But they probably cleared the board for the Fox/Marvel stuff since it’s going back to Marvel Studios. I wouldn’t be surprised if they still get distributed thru Fox. If it’s still it’s own entity, it can shoulder the costs of production.

Looks like they’re alternating Avatar and Star Wars every other year to dominate Christmas for the next forever.

I've never seen Avatar.

I seriously wonder if the box-office shattering appeal has cooled.

Cool. I thought I was the only one to never see it.

It was pretty good. There is a good bit near the end that my son loved when he was little so I did watch a number of times.... back when having a bluray player was kinda special. It's been a minute or two.

I was underwhelmed by it. But, I think that was in response to it’s garagantuan popularity. It’s not as good as it’s Box Office would suggest, and I don’t even think it’s one of Cameron’s best films, but it is a decent flick. The plot is about as basic as you can get. It works way better on the big screen, especially when you realize 99% of the movie is CGI.

So good.
A few shots are too "modern" looking compared to how ANH was shot, but none of it wildly unrealistic or out of place for Star Wars.

I made a horrible - really horrible - mistake & wound up watching a video on youtube carrying on about a plot leak & spoilers & the whole 9 yards..... I know for sure it can't possibly be right..... but if I could go back in time & relive that deciding moment I would. :(

Mainly to Chux, but if anyone else is doing any pre-movie reading please chime in.

Other than Marvel's SW Allegiance and the young readers book by Justina Ireland, is there anything else I should be reading to get ready? I know you're going to say watch Resistance but I'm not there yet.... if the season one box set hits with enough time before the movie I'll do my best.

Resistance Season 1 is out on DVD - I've literally heard one person say that it is a good show.

First season starts out pretty mediocre. The main character is pretty useless, but a few members of the supporting cast keep it from being a total loss. It picks up about halfway through (when the First Order actually occupies the Colossus station) and hits overdrive with the finale. The second season is pretty fricking stellar so far.

There's the two you mentioned, and Resistance Reborn is coming early next month. Also Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire and A Crash of Fate may or may not be important, but definitely fall in that time.

The loose Flight of the Falcon series is largely inconsequential (Bazine Netal, the bounty hunter who calls the FO to report BB-8 is on Takodana, thus making her an honorary Fett family member by not doing anything in the films to cement her reputation) is looking for the Falcon and basically goes around listening to old stories. But Pirate's Price, the finale, is worth reading if only because most of the book is Hondo telling tales in character.

There's also a "Journey to Rise of Skywalker" book forthcoming called Force Collector that's supposedly set during or just before TFA, so not sure what's up with that.

Spark of the Resistance, BTW, isn't great, but seems pretty unimportant. Rey, Poe, Rose, and BB work well together, and that's pretty much the whole takeaway.

I still think Resistance Season 2 and possibly The Mandalorian will be the important lead-ins.

I preordered the comics & will skip the young readers novel based on the reviews. That's going to be it for me unless we wind up getting Disney+ at the last minute.
