yeah, the first thing you want to do, before making something move at 600 mph, is remove the brakes. i mean, they just slow you down, anyway.

This convo just makes me want to see the Satan's Helpers scene from Pee Wee's Big Adventure, with C-3PO as Pee Wee, and Swoop Riders of various species as Satan's Helpers.

In 2003, Hasbro released a wave of figures with small speeders that included both "Anakin Skywalker's Swoop Bike" and "Count Dooku's Geonosian Speeder Bike," so at least back then they were using them at the same time. I really haven't seen them use "swoop" since then, and it doesn't actually appear on the official site, so I think "speeder bike" is once again the preferred term. Carry on, carry on.
The unsourced, indirect Wookieepedia quote only mentions George liking the story and retroactively wishing he could have made a film of it in the 1980s. I don't think he had anything to do with the creation since he was working full-time on TPM. SOTE was actually created when TPM slipped away from its original release year in order to test the marketing machine.

I still think Shadows would make for a great CG movie.
Well, as long as the characters don't look like Clone Wars/Rebels characters with their cold, dead, hollow eyes.

Having just bought the last of the eleven podracer pilots hasbro made, I found
this guy making little kits for some of the others. His Ratts Tyerell seems to be the correct scale.
Annyhoo, nothing else to add. Just thought I'd point to the website.

Those look pretty cool. Hasbro made Ben Quadinaros and Ratts Tyerell in 2012, for the record.
I'm bummed that boring-ass Revan is winning so hard in the fans' choice poll. These are the same dudebros with Boba Fett boners and refuse to acknowledge that Kylo Ren, who will be all over store shelves in two months' time, looks exactly like Darth Revan.

Maybe it's another rigged Hasbro poll, since one could be retooled from the other.

Yet another reason why I'm over Star Wars. Nobody gives a shit about the main characters anymore. They all try to find the most obscure character (*cough*AurraSing*cough*) and run with it like they're so cool. And what happened to someone being evil and sinister WITHOUT having all of this shit on their costume or a deformed face. Tarkin was pretty fucking scary and it was just an old man wearing slippers.

Yeah, I have those. Ratts is twice the size he should be. They probably could have made him an accessory rather than a figure.
The Sith suck balls. Fett sucks balls. Fan's choice polls suck balls.
That is all.

But sadly the great majority of people that are "fans" now only bust a nut when either an over the top Sith or a Mandalorian is involved. I can guarantee that one of these upcoming movies will have a BIG Mandalorian plot just to make fanboys happy. I'm still not even looking forward to or caring about these new movies.

It got really, really bad before the Disney takeover. Look at the Legacy books or especially comics. Nothing but Mandaloreans and Sith. The comic had many of them as half-naked Twi'lek chicks on top of that.

They remove their helmets to do that, right? If not, the chaffing probably makes it very uncomfortable.
It is that time of year where I forgot what figures are coming out and had to go back through this thread to figure it out.
Random tidbit: there is a toy Rancor sitting on top of one of the televisions in the Metallica Hero of the Day video. I seen the video a few times but never noticed it before.

When they started to get away from the story and just concentrated on trying to make memorable characters is when it got ridiculous. Plus every fucking person either a) being a Jedi/Sith already or b) somehow able to learn the skills.

The entire Cantina crowd was made up of Rebel spies, hiding former Jedi, bounty hunters, and Imperials. Even fucking Bo'Shek was supposed to be Force sensitive.
I'd like Disney to give the entire Cantina bunch new, less cockamamie, origins and stories.

I've always hated the fact that almost all EU character names apparently require multiple apostrophes. I mean S'li'cke'r or An'a'rk'y sort of thing. Soon as I see anything with an apostrophe'd name I just think, "Oh, this has turd smeared all over it".
There's also the predisposition of earlier EU writers to link every character to Han Solo. Though it isn't so much the linking of a few characters in a vast galaxy that gets irritating. it's how serious people get about all of it. Like it's a new gospel or something. I liked Star Wars Tales comic from dark Horse because most of it was just 'what if' stuff and not intended to be canon. It was just people goofing off with crazy ideas. I read yesterday about one of the new games coming out which 'aims to partly bridge the thirty years between' the OT and the ST. I just thought "Oh great, more shit like Vader's apprentice and Maris Brood." Apparently this new game charts the birth of The New Order. So, wrong looking Stormtroopers and not much else.
