It is sad, but if they slapped some of those OT figures on vintage cards, there is an outside chance that I would have probably consider buying a couple...maybe.

If #4 is not a joke, we could be seeing a new level of stupid as pertains to ridiculous action figures.

This could be the cynic in me but this line looks like it's Hasbro finally realizing that they're losing the fans that were around during the prequels and they're clamoring to recover them (funeral pyre Vader is about a decade overdue).

Maybe the BBQ Vader mask in the trailer made Hasbro do the funeral pyre Vader.

Hard to get excited about anything on that list. It has all been done. Maybe 2-1B or the R2 with all the attachments since I missed the super spiffy one they did a long time ago. Is the difference between the Dagobah and Hoth Ben Kenobi going to be hard nipples?

I'd likely pop for most of those, if they were new sculpts.

Makes me wonder if Kylo Ren's path to the dark side starts with a discovery of the remnants of said pyre - that could make sense out of the burnt helmet as well as a funeral pyre 2 pack.

Ghosty-Wan has his hood up on Hoth but puts it down on Dagobah. Cold as fuck on Hoth; even ghosts need to protect themselves.

Official confirmation that Obi-Wan fathered a child: Bizzaro the Grip is interested in his titties.

Well, the 3.75" "The Black Series" is now confirmed to be a Walmart exclusive.

And the first wave and most of the second wave are repacks of figures no one wanted the first time around.

Fuck you, Hasbro. Seriously. Fuck you.

The local news covered the Star Wars event at only Target open at midnight. It seems silly to camp out at a store for any product (weather it is Star Wars or a new Apple device or whatever). This one guy in particular said he wanted to be part of "something big".

And yes, the news had the gratuitous shot of guys playing with their lightsabers as every news agency does any time Star Wars fans gather.

If I've only learned two things in life, it's these:

All first-day Star Wars products will be easy to find,

And

99% of it will be subpar, with better versions of the same thing announced a month later.

Also, I still know too little to get excited enough to buy characters I know nothing about, who may have three seconds of screen time.

Something occurred to me the other day. I have no idea what movie Mosep Bineed was in. Without looking it up, I know he's either in the Cantina or in Jabba's palace, but not sure which. The only place I recall seeing him is in one of the Star Wars books. I'll probably scratch him off the list.

I went out to see what was going to happen. The TRU near me was open & I figured - honestly - that if no one showed up they'd decide to not do events like this in the future. I'm down with nerds being excited for nerd stuff - if someone wants to wait up to purchase call of duty or a video game at midnight or anything for that matter, I applaud the stores for making it happen.

That being said, I needn't have worried. There were about 40 people in line when I got to the store - right as the line starting being let inside. I didn't have to wait to get in at all - but by the time I got over to the figure section there was basically nothing Hasbro left other than a couple of speeders with a figure packed in and a few rough looking 3.75" carded figures, none of them main characters. I was surprised to see the competitive fires burning, with 20 somethings berating the staff about the stock being too low for an event like this & asking if more was coming out, etc. I heard in passing the people who were first in line somehow missed out (no idea how), but some guys about 10th or 11th in line were psychotic & filling up a shopping cart.

I heard someone else say TRU received 30 6" figures ONLY for the event - that's 6 cases of 5 figures each - they likely could have sold 3-4x that many.

In thinking about it, I believe Disney has purposefully sent limited stock out to start, knowing they would create a false sense of scarcity by having the better items sell out right away upon release. Now they'll hold back for a couple of weeks to make sure the dregs all get sold before trickling out a bit more. I don't imagine we'll see the true onslaught of this product until Black Friday.

Anyone figured out the difference between "basic" and Armor Up figures, aside from several bucks? The worthless accessory piece and worthless armor look to involve the same exact amount of material. There are Flametroopers (seriously fucking stupid fanwanky idea, sorry) in both lines, and they're the same figure! Just one costs more. The hell?

No one understands it. My best theory is that it's a "resort to" figure for collectors or parents that can't find the cheaper version on that particular trip & are willing to get tricked into spending an extra $5. There are a few (Boba Fett, Poe in Fatigues) that you can't get a standard figure of just yet as well.
