Cap 25 - Holy shit. I have a few points to discuss.
1. How it happened. Jesus, poor Sharon. What a great character, and she'll now be a completely hollow shell....
2. Unless they make Frank into Cap and Sharon into the Punisher. What? It could happen.
3. Beautiful art. Epting is ridiculous, and not frequently mentioned as one of today's best artists.
4. My copy has me conflicted. For some reason, my provider put the McGuiness variant cover aside for me. It's super minty-mint - not a fleck, not a crease. I'm wondering if I should ditch it while it's hot (a copy went for nearly $100 on ebay just today) and hope to pick up the regular cover later. Yes, I'm money grubbing scum for thinking this way - happy?

Is he really dead? Civil War: The Initiative has a short story with Spider-Woman and Ms. Marvel that indicates otherwise.
Who will become Captain America? James Buchanan Barnes? AKA Bucky. AKA Winter Soldier?
Will Sharon turn herself in? She must know she was manipulated. But for the sake of drama she will probably keep it to herself.
Since they didn't tell anyone, even the shop owners ( I would be fucking pissed at Marvel if I owned a shop right about now.) I think finding another copy will be hard to do. best to hold onto it for bragging rights.

I have no plans to read it, having decided to stick to my "No Marvel" pledge regardless of the gimmick.
I read some spoilers, as some details sounded disturbingly close to a lynchpin event in my own stuff, which I first decided upon many, many years ago. I'm not paranoid enough to think they copied me, but if it was too close, I'd have to do some major re-writing.
Aside from a hero being shot by a sniper, which is pretty damned logical when you think about it, I think I'm good. All the other details are rather different.
I won't tell anymore, because this is one plot twist I don't want to spoil.

It was excellent Chux, very well done. I loved seeing Sharon's realization.... and you know the best part? They did in one issue what could have been drawn out over a 12 issue limited series. Finally, something very well done by Marvel.

I'm sure it'll be reprinted, either as a stand-alone or in paperback. Since everyone is saying it's really good for a change (most importantly you, and the lack of negative comments by everyone else here), I'll make sure to read it. Finding a new first printing might be a toughie at this point.
I was just
really worried when I started reading about people wondering what Sharon's reactions would be (I'm not so out of it I don't remember she's his main squeeze, or at least was). One of the major events in my own little panorama involves a cliffhanger where a hero is killed by an unseen assassin right in front of his girlfriend. But, from what I've read in spoilers, it seems different enough, and I know the buildup and aftermath are significantly different, so I'm not worried about it being too close. Unless, that is, someone steals my hard drive.

I might be mistaken - but I think you haven't quite put 2 and 2 together yet.... BIGGEST SPOILER WARNING POSSIBLE:
the Red Skull somehow manipulated Sharon into killing Steve.
(pause for effect, while you catch your breath)
She shot him at close range after the sniper nailed him from above. Later on, one of the bad guys simply says "remember" to her, and it all comes back. Dramatic, shocking, surprising..... unbelievable.

For anyone that read the train wreck that was Civil War and wondered why Frank Castle picked up Captain America's mask...
Marvel.com posted this.

Fuck you Marvel.
Don't you dare go and ruin The Punisher with this nonsense.

What's next? Thor-Hulk? Thing Torch? Cage Fist? Or Sleepwalker and Death's Head combined into Sleepyhead?
This is the sort of dumb shit kids come up with in second grade.
And doesn't it fly totally in the face of the hyper-realistic treatment of the Punisher over the past decade?

Man, click on your link and then go into the marvel.com forums. There are some stupid fucktards there. I'm not talking about their liking it. I'm talking about how they state they like it.

I saw it too, but am hoping it's a ruse to throw people off. The fact that there are 2 pictures though is off-putting to say the least.

Holy crap. Did Hasbro take over Marvel?
