I saw a couple of Lego mini-set Advent calenders yesterday, one was Lego City (I think) and the other was Star Wars (with a Santa Yoda mini-fig).
They were pretty cool looking, but I didn't look too close. They were priced at $39.99 and I assume they came with 25 mini-sets and mini-figs, which is like $1.60 per set/mini fig.

the "2011 holiday set 2 of 2" is ONLY for 'black friday' orders and in-store purchases. they were offering it this past saturday for VIP members (it was an advanced 'black friday' promo for VIPs).

the advent calendars are notoriously over-priced. the SW advent calendar only includes 7 figures and 16 models, 266 pieces total, for a ratio of $0.15/piece (the 'golden ratio' is generally regarded as $0.10/piece). here's an image of all of them:

Thanks, vyn. I guess I'll hold off on the MMV and Shuttle Expedition purchases until Friday.

I found another Creator house on eBay. The 4956 from 2007. It was $65 w/ free shipping, but it's got 731 bricks and considering it goes for much more now, I consider that a fair price. The alt builds look pretty nice too, so if I can find a second one for reasonable down the road I'll try and get it.

Well, S@H's Black Friday discounts made me change my plans somewhat. The deep discount on the Imperial Flagship caused me to order both that AND the MMV. And I used my accumulated VIP points to knock off another $45. So both sets for $160.

The IF was $134 and the MMV was its normal $99. But I got 10% off because I was over $150 which made them $121 and $90. And then the $45 in VIP on top of that.

Also, they refunded me the difference on the Tantive IV ($134 down to $112) and Winter Village ToyShop ($59 down to $44). The only thing that bugged me about that is the 10% I took off the Tantive was negated and I could've used that on a different set like the Pet Shop had I known.

But now the IF is 'backordered' and other people who ordered it on Brickset are saying they got e-mails saying their IF order was cancelled. So I'm hoping I don't get that e-mail. If I didn't get it (the email)right away, does that mean I'm safe? I dunno.

Anyway, the kids came over and we went crazy building sets. The Boy built the Tantive IV practically by himself. Seeing as how he's nine and its a 14+ set with 1406 pieces, I was impressed. And damn it looks sweet.

Then my daughter and I built the Fire Brigade which was so much fun. I. Any wait to do the other Modulars, but I'll wait until they come over for Christmas break.

Finally we put together the Wintet Village Bakery this morning. A decent little set but nowhere near as fun as the bigger sets. I'm getting spoiled with large complicated builds.

Oh, and that Creator House I ebayed arrived so I built that also. But it was missing pieces, so now I have to inventory it and contact the seller.

Yeah, I've heard grand stories about Boxing Day deals. Sadly, the closest B&M to me is like 4 hours away in Chicago. So, not really worth the trip. :(

I asked my sister for Lego.com gift cards for Christmas. :)

Dammit it all to hell. :x

Lego cancelled my Imperial Flagship due to not having enough product to meet demands.

Sonuvabitch. :frus:

Drive to their office and fuck their receptionists in front of them.

That'll show 'em!!! Actually, I tried that once before. Netflix was taking an unreasonable amount of time shipping the next disc in my queue after receiving my returned discs, so I drove up there and let their receptionist have it. Sadly, it was a middle aged black woman who easily north of 300 lbs. and she insisted on being on top. It was a very unsatisfactory experience all around. So I'm not so impulsive as to try again.

that sucks, but it appears to be a rampant problem. in fact, i don't know who ordered 'imperial flagship' whose orders weren't cancelled.

my only concern is whether or not i am getting the '2011 holiday set 2 of 2' - apparently THAT set was under-produced as well. they ended that promotion a day early!

Oh, was that Beatrice? You got to know how to use your hands with her. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. It is impossible of someone for someone with your skill level to satisfy a woman like that. I use an advanced technique I learned in India.
