How fucking cool is this story? All week I've been going to Kmart right when they open at 8:00 am and finding shit. So today, I was all 'fuckit, they aint gonna have nothin' and lounged around until 10:30 before I went over there. When I got there, they had nothin'. So I see this guy take a figure up to CustyService (to check in-store quantities I presume?)And he comes back with a manager and SHE LET'S HIM GO IN THE BACK to look for the case of figures! WTF?? They come out with the figures and I go over to ask if they have more than that in the back. They don't. Which bums me out. But then the guy says he only wants the spare Martian Manhunter in the case for his nephew!
So I got MM, Sinestro Batman, Raven, GoldenAge Starman, Golden Pharoah, and Jemm for the sale price of $7.75 each.
Then I went to TRU and found Ezio from Assassin's Creed II.
So it was a good day.

I have this major urge to go back and start collecting vintage GIJoe vehicles and playsets. Like, I don't really care about the figures, but having a bunch of Tomahawks and Skystrikers and all those little gum emplacement mini-sets would be sweet. I have no money, so of course I wont be doing that. But I have this crack-addiction like desire to do so.

I have a desire to collect a modern-era Skystriker. So does everyone else. But it won't happen. The original mold was destroyed, and Hasbro steadfastly refuses to make a new one.
No joke, apparently they loaned out Joe molds to companies in other countries to make their knockoffs (who found their way into the new line as Ninja-Ku Storm Shadow and Pilot Scarlett), and the molds were vulnerable to salt water, so guess what some Indian toy company washed the Skystriker mold in? :dead:

Big Lots has some decent looking World Peacekeepers vehicles. Of course, the figures suck, but the F-18 looks nice. They also have a tank, APC, and 4 versions of Humvee (w/machine gun turret, w/ cannon turret, pick-up version, and rear canopy version). They have a few different type of helicopters as well. And TRU has a Blackhawk from a similar line that Big Lots doesn't.

Then that Indian company should spring for a new mold. Or at least defray the cost of Hasbro making a new one. Also, since Hasbro has finally relented on using the SW molds from 30 years ago on things like the Falcon and AT-AT, maybe they'll do the same for the Sky-Striker.

Or they'll do like the Night Raven, and make a totally new mold... in half the size.
The old-mold Joe vehicles in the modern era are sorta laughable. There's many that the new figures (who are very slightly taller) simply won't fit into.

They weren't really any longer than the F-4 or F-15. They were a bit longer than the "bad guy" planes in Top Gun, which were actually just a plane the Air Force used for training. I think the Navy retired the F-14, so re-releasing the Sky Striker would be about as crazy as giving Mainframe floppy disks and a huge out of date laptop....oh, wait.
Yes it is. The gun that plugs into the jet pack and the Darth Vader helmet are kind of goofy looking, but detachable. So between the Cobra Flint, Crimson Guard/Troop comic pack, Bazooka Trooper, 25th Trooper, and Crimson Guard Battle Pack, I have a nice little Cobra Army.
Supposedly the Hall of Heros figures are showing up at Marshalls and Toys R Us Express. The TRU Express hasn't opened up here yet. Other than that, I'm not sure if there is much else in stores right now that I want. Maybe the Cobra Extreme condition set and the Snow Cat. Otherwise, I'm just waiting for the new Snake Eyes & Low Light. I'm going to ask Santa to bring me the Snake Eyes/Stalker DVD set and the Joe Cobra Island set. (Yes, I know I'll never complete the MASS device).
Isn't the ROTJ due out pretty soon? I think I was getting 5 or 6 of those.
Oh, and is there any reason to get that exclusive 4-LOM/Zuckuss set?
It's 4-LOM and Zuckuss on vintage cards, with vintage-accurate coloring. A cool piece, but I didn't think it was necessary to have it gathering dust.
I might have to snag some of those HoH figures if I find them. IIRC, the best are the battle-damaged BAT, Viper with silver mask (and better arms?), and Flint with short sleeves. I never got any, aside from the re-release of the BAT in the Cobra Island set. Well, I'm not sure if the CG was a straight re-release of the one from the comic pack or not.
If they ever get around to it, there was a sweet-looking Viper army-builder 5-pack that included 3 Vipers, 1 Viper Commander (slightly different coloring, including a gold mask), and Mercer in Viper gear with removable helmet.

I bought the TRU Spirit Iron Knife. Gave up trying to find the 25th anniversary one at one of the clearance stores. He came with a couple little green snakes. I think they might now belong to Yoda.
