I got the new SuperHero Squad 2-packs of Ronan the Accuser/Spidey and Deadpool/Taskmaster.

Went to a different TRU today and got Arctic Shipwreck, RoC Hawk(a.k.a. Dennis Quaid with a suitcase full of green dildos), and Deep Six. I already have Deep Six, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Not a goddamn thing at my TRU. I would've snatched up a bunch of shit to take advantage of that sale.

I did go by Marshall's, which moved the toys to beside the entrance and actually sorted everything nicely, for once. Got another Cobra Air Trooper, Cobra Trooper, and BAT (dammit, I'm an addict), as well as some custom fodder: Rock 'n' Roll/Deep Six, City Strike Snake Eyes, City Strike Duke, and City Strike Storm Shadow. I plan to get a sort of update of this Snake Eyes (which does sorta look shitty in toy form, though they somehow made that costume rock in the comic book) and Kamakura out of them, and might see if it's possible to headswap Deep Six to get some new generic Joe diver.

I always referred to that as HockeyMask Snake-Eyes. And I couldn't understand why a ninja would dress in cornflower blue.

I like the outfit, but agree the color is a bit ridiculous. I'm using the City Strike Snake Eyes head (and possibly legs--haven't decided on the legs yet) with the arms and torso from City Strike Duke. Not sure what accessories yet. I'm going to go with a really dark purple, with grey and black details. Haven't yet figured out how best to do the red goggles so they look glassy.

Kamakura I'm thinking will be the body and legs of comic pack Rock 'n' Roll and arms from Arctic Threat Storm Shadow (I erroneously called him City Strike earlier). The head will either be the SS head or, more likely, one of any number of Beach Head heads (since Kamakura is usually shown with a knit-style ribbed mask). Maybe the trenchcoat from Storm Shadow, too. I don't want to go entirely accurate with him, either, since I consider the Devil's Due run apocryphal now that there's than fanfic (oh, and the new Hama comic), and the character doesn't exist.

I opened up Hawk. I put Flint's head on him and it didn't look bad. I have Flint's head on one of the generic Joes from the Firefly battle pack. Now I wish I grabbed that Sgt Stone instead of Deep Six.

So would you re-paint the Storm Shadow arms and R&R's body? I haven't seen a picture of Kamakura.

Shit, I forgot you found him. Yeah, I still want him, but I have a feeling I'll make a Kamakura and use him as someone else. (I don't want 100% comic accurate, but I think something close looks better for the character than the ROC figure.)

Some nerd, somewhere, has all that shit memorized. Which is both sad AND funny.

That's the sort of thing that made me get out of the EU altogether. At one point, good or bad, at least they pretended to be consistent. The shit with Zuckuss simultaneously being a badass bounty hunter and a Rebel agent was one of the first moments of, "Okay, what the fuck is the editor doing and why is he getting paid for doing it?" Then they had to retcon that he had to pretend to continue to be a badass bounty hunter while he was a Rebel, but he would occasionally leave the Rebellion, and later said he was batshit insane and had multiple personalities, and 4-LOM never became the first robot Jedi. (As incredibly fucking stupid as that was, dude, the goddamned robot saw the fucking future. How would he know Luke would be teaching Jedi on Yavin IV?)

Yeah, Star Wars EU continuity is just a pile of shit when you get down to it. I say read, watch, and play what you want, and, if you like it, that's your EU. Fuck levels of canon. It's fiction anyway; it's all subjective.

Technically, since the actual movies are such a small part of the overall 'history' of the mythical universe and subjectively pretty crappy in a lot of people's minds, it reinforces your notion. is Zuckuss secretly being a Rebel more or less stupid than the very existence of Jar Jar Binks?

I got Wicket, Gammorean Guard, Endor Rebel, and the other Jabba goon from Target today. I intended on buying Ackbar, but I got a phone call while I was grabbing them and it distracted me. I'll pick him up later, and I might get Luke & R2 while I'm at it.

And I had the Hoth pack with the Rebels in my cart. It was $5 off, and I was tempted. I decided that $35 wasn't worth it for one unreleased figure, one repaint of an existing figure to make it a resculpt of another existing figure, and a totally re-released figure, along with two accessories I have nowhere to display.
