Each month we will be submitting 5 questions asked by you the readers to the Hasbro design team for Marvel, which they then send back with answers to those questions for you to read. Here is the first batch of questions and answers for this month:

Marvelous News: (Regards to Marvel Legends) What are the chances that, moving forward, Hasbro will refrain from using the GI Joe swivel-elbow and the Star Wars ball-jointed elbow/knee articulation schemes for Legends, and return to the double-hinge construction for elbows and knees as introduced by ToyBiz along with the paint apps we are used to?

Hasbro: Both paint and articulation are handled case by case taking into consideration the aesthetic of each character.The less paint we use, the better. Keeping costs down you know. Maximum articulation sometimes detracts from the overall appearance and quality of the figure. We know that many collectors and fans agree Can you name names? Give us an example? The very fact that the question is phrased this way suggests that fans would actually LIKE more articulation that the overall appearance of a figure ranks higher than the articulation point count.Again, the Legends line suged in popularity because of the articulation We look at this balance carefully each and every time.And then err on the side of less articulation because its cheaper

MN: (Regards to Marvel Legends) Will you include flying stands/bases for future figures?

Hasbro: There are no plans to include these on a regular basis, although you will probably see a select few. That costs money. No.

MN: (Regards to Marvel Legends) Any two packs or boxsets planned in the future??

Hasbro: Not for 2007, but we're taking a hard look at some great possibilities for box sets and 2-packs in 2008. Mostly cheap silver repaints of existing box sets, like 47th anniversary Fantastic Four Box Set. You'll be so excited.

MN: (Regards to Marvel Legends) Will we ever see older Toy Biz figures re-released through Hasbro?

Hasbro: While we're not ready to discuss plans beyond our 2007 line at this time, -- There is a strong possibility that several old favorites could be revived. Watch for future announcements. In the 5" scale with slightly less articulation. You guys really liked the Pre-Legend size and style articulation, right?

MN: What happened to the Marvel Heroes line shown at SDCC in 2006, are they still coming and if so when?

Hasbro: This line is not scheduled for release in the near future, but we never say never. "Never say never" is our way of snickering at you behind your back.

A: While we're not ready to discuss plans beyond our 2007 line at this time .. let's just say that Civil War is one of our favorites too!

I'll search for it, but one site asked about the comics. They said that, for cost reasons, they had to make a choice between features/articulation and the comic.

So, let me get this straight: To keep production costs down on items they'd already jacked up $3 in SRP, Hasbro--a much larger company than ToyBiz, with higher production, and therefore cheaper printing per-copy costs--they eliminated the comic so as to preserve features and articulation, but then got rid of those two from the get-go as well?

I really hate Hasbro. I'd love to still be collecting this line, but it's total shit at this point. It's worse than anything they've done to Star Wars.

I think it'd be cool to make 1/2 size, mini versions of the comics.
Look at that, they could cut costs of the comic in half!

Hasbro must honestly believe no one buys any of their toys who has the slightest notion of how printing costs work.

Canadian retailers have canceled their orders of wave 2, according to a friend of mine in the toy biz up here. Can you believe this? In less than 10 figures, Hasbro has KILLED MARVEL LEGENDS in Canada.

How much have wave 2 have you guys been seeing down there?

I haven't seen any, but my friend who is much more vigilant than I has procured me an entire set upon my return from the midwest. I can't wait to open Thor.

I firmly believe that Hasbro willingly makes decisions to infuriate the retailers into NOT ordering stuff they don't want to produce anymore, so they can "revamp" the line into 5" less articulated crap like their Spider-Man and Fantastic Four movie lines. I just know that is their goal.

Fucking assholes.

Nail on head EP - I said the same thing on the Canadian SW site. The line will take a hiatus, and magically reappear down the road - smaller and shittier.
