Monsterquest/Is It Real?

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

Google, bitch.
Emails sent to Infowars.com and comments posted on Alex Jones’ flagship websites today provide multiple confirmations that episodes of Jesse Ventura’s popular truTV show Conspiracy Theory are disappearing from the DVRs of TiVo, Comcast, DirectTV and AT&T customers.

Shows finding their way to the digital memory hole include the already heavily censored “Police State” episode and shows on the JFK assassination and the worldwide water conspiracy.

Yeah, I could've looked it up again.

I just didn't care to this morning. And wanted you guys to have all the fun of finding some of the batshit posts yourselves. :)

A more likely explanation seems more mundane: It turned out our issues were due to a weak signal coming from the local hub. It caused pixelation, occasionally lost digital channels, OnDemand and Start Over not working, and, most importantly, serious DVR issues with premium channels. For instance, my wife tried to record True Blood, and it would only record the last 13 minutes, but show that it had taped the whole thing, and it wouldn't play right. Far more likely that there was an issue with TruTV's signal, or even that they weren't listed properly as new episodes in the guide, and the episodes simply didn't record.

Now, if anyone could verify that they were properly recorded, and watched them, and then they disappeared, that might be a different issue. I tend to distrust conspiracy theorists, though, so I think the accounts are heavily exaggerated and they never recorded in the first place.

If I had the time, I'd read every article on that website. It looks hilarious.

Funny thing is, though I'm not a conspiracy theorist (except when it comes to Hasbro), I tend to avoid looking at those sites for laughs because I think the FBI might be monitoring them.

I'll just make this the official "bullshit pseudo-documentary" thread.

You guys seen a show called Monster Bug Wars on Science Channel? You should. It's about bugs fighting each other in real-world situations. Looks inspired a bit by Jurassic Fight Club (which was, generally, quite good as far as the Discovery family of channels go)--they talk about two insects, their strengths and weaknesses, and then show how the fight really went down (though, unlike JFP, they can just film it and don't have to CG it). It wouldn't be too bad, except they edit in the most ridiculous sound effects. Insects (and other arthropods) have all sorts of overdubbed animal sounds. It's on right now (I got bored and stopped flipping), and there's, no shit, a scorpion scurrying across a limb, with the sound of a wild boar at a full gallop. Earlier, a spider made a bird screech when it pounced on another bug, which made a sound that sounded like a sheep.

This is some bizarre shit, and worth watching for the few minutes before the SFX finally annoy the hell out of you.

Seems like I've watched too many episodes of Finding Bigfoot and the miscellaneous other mythical creature shows like Monsterquest or the ghost hunting shows. Watching River Monsters with Jeremy Wade almost seems amazing because in just about every episode, he finds the fish he's looking for.

Something occurred to me regarding the various ghost shows. When they set up audio recorders and get "responses", why doesn't the equipment recording the show also pick up the "response"?
