Tony DeZuniga died last week? How did I miss that? He created Jonah Hex. Who is an awesome character despite Warner Bros efforts to fuck up every single DC property they have.

Thanks, Tony. RIP

And Ernie Chan died. Ernie wasn't a flashy superstar. Just a reliable inker with a lot of issues under his belt. I looked him up on my cbdb page and I've got quite a few books by him. So thank you, Ernie. Your work is immortal. RIP

Looking back through this thread, it appears I have cornered myself into making an obligatory Liefeld comment at this point.

Not quite "RIP," and hopefully won't be, but it doesn't sound promising for the co-creator of Lobo, Roger Slifer.

Obligatory anti-Liefeld statement that speaks for itself:

Damn, August 12th is unlucky for comic creators. Mark Gruenwald and Mike Wieringo also died on this date. :(

Thanks for everything, Joe.

Carmine Infantino.

Though, frankly, I thought he was dead already.

And George Gladir as well. Who? The co-creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Yeah, like me, you may think she's lame, but there was a very, very successful TV show that proves an awful lot of people didn't agree.

RIP Robert Morales.

Yeah, he didn't write very many comics. But 54 is way too young.

Not an "RIP" exactly (though one of the creators is dead), but did you realize that Avengers #1 came out fifty years ago today?

Oh, and it came out the exact day that X-Men #1 came out.

And Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Fantastic Four were all going strong at this point. As was Amazing-Spider-Man. Except for that last one, they were all drawn by Jack Kirby. And they were all written by Stan Lee.

That is really fucking impressive.

Seriously, Uncles Stan and Jack, thank you from the bottom of the collective heart of global geekdom.

She's one of the very few who wrote more than one EU novel, and still maintained a 100% Awesome level. :(
