My only gripes were the predictability of certain elements. The stone switcheroo was a given as were Groot surviving the crash and the contents of the parcel. Really though, I don't see any way they could have done any of this differently - they all kinda HAD to happen the way they happened or it would have been weird. Sadly, reading about Howard the Duck in this very thread spoilered the post credit bit for me. I would have lol'd I'm sure.

Just finished a second viewing. Just as fun the second time.
Part of me wanted the pink chicks to be Zeltrons, just for fun, and with no real connection to the Star Wars universe.

That's why it was in spoiler text. Even though, I didn't know he was in the end credits scene, just the first time you see The Collector.

The MacGuffin was only obvi to me in hindsight.
The Groot sprout had already happened in the comics several times, so I knew that was happening.
The switcheroo was fine. It's a common trope. I was more amused that StarLord stored everything simply by putting it behind his back throughout the film.
The Duck got spoiled for me because another website posted the end credits list. That's how I knew Cosmo was in the movie also.

I think I missed the first look at HtD. I didn't see him at all until the end.

The first time Collector shows up onscreen, HtD is in a display case hanging from the ceiling over Collector's left shoulder (so upper right screen). He's out of focus, so it's not surprising people miss him. The camera is focused on Collector.

Thought about it more today & they really got a lot done in 2hrs. An awful lot of story, introduced a ton of characters & furthered one (Thanos) very nicely - just enough to keep us interested. Maybe I will go back to the theatre.

I saw him today. The Collector is out of focus at first and Howard is in focus, sitting sideways and turns his head toward camera. Then The Collector comes into focus and Howard goes blurry.

Its a shot that looks very similar to this.

There is also a lot of babe-age in the movie.

The assistant chick standing next to Glenn Close's Nova Prime throughout the film is total eye candy. EDIT. Her name's Mikaela Hoover. She's only 5'1"(which makes my boner for her double in size. I love short chicks) and apparently Nathan Fillion is tapping that. Lucky guy.


And Karen Gillan as Nebula in those tight leather pants. Every time she walked off screen in a huff I wanted to give the movie an 11 on Metacritic or RT or wherever.

Karen Gillan as Amy Pond is the crush of a lifetime. My God.

Avengers has been dethroned. Sorry, Joss. I look forward to you trying harder with Age of Ultron.

I did not catch you-know-who in his first appearance. But he's currently the final character you see in the best and worst Marvel movies (and, until Avengers 2, the first and last). Vindication!

Need to re-watch for Malcolm Reynolds, too. Didn't realize he was "monstrous."

He was the big blue guy in the Klyn that tries staying shit with Quill, until Groot shoves his fingers up his nose. The voice ain't even recognizable as Fillion, IMO.

I saw it for a second time with some family and enjoyed it more. I was also not stoned out of my gourd the second time I saw it, which helped.

Indeed, a strange choice. Maybe he's the other Yondu's great-great-great...great-great grandfather.

By the way, in a perfect world, this led into the Howard the Duck movie, which Marvel kept completely under wraps until a few months before release. An R-rated film, it had far less broad appeal, but was widely hailed as Marvel's best film yet. The title character has bizarre adventures on Earth, including cameos from all the heroes introduced so far (and showing brief one-off live action versions of lesser and sillier characters, poking an extra amount of fun at Motormouth), but everyone agreed the best scene followed the credits, where the Collector hires an unnamed cybernetic "freelance peacekeeping agent" to bring back the escaped title character, followed by "Death's Head created by Simon Furman and Geoff Senior."
