I still think the first one is a better Batman film than The Dark Knight, which is just a vigilante movie about a guy fighting a clown. A good vigilante movie about a guy fighting a clown, but a vigilante movie about a guy fighting a clown nonetheless.
I can forgive the plot holes in Batman more than those in The Dark Knight because, despite what everyone seems to think, Batman doesn't take itself too seriously. The grittiness is too over-the-top to be completely serious, plus it's Burton.
Batman still is far from a perfect Batman movie, like we got with Mask of the Phantasm or Batman Begins.
Cue Diabolical rebuttal in 3...2...1....

I had insomnia the other night, and Deathwish II with Chuck Bronson was on TV. Talk about awfulsome! It had a very young Laurence Fishburne as one of the abusists who kill Bronson's daughter and housekeeper. Later on Bronson shoots him in the face through a boombox he's holding up to defend himself.

I went to see Rango today. What a delightful film. Not only is it one of the better Westerns I've ever seen, it has an epic chase in the second act thats as awesome as any live action film. If you can imagine crossing Star Wars with Deliverance with the Road Warrior you kinda get there. There's also a non-cameo in the film that is so awesome, I can't even tell you who or what it is, suffice to say the film is a western...

Yojimbo.
One of the best westerns I've seen, even if it's not really a western. Makes me want to see a kickass film version of Red Harvest. Three films based on it, and the closest to the original is Last Man Standing. (It's also the weakest, though not a bad movie; Yojimbo and A Fistful of Dollars are just really fucking awesome flicks and LMS is merely quite good. When I read Red Harvest, I couldn't help but picture Bruce Willis as the Op.)
Come to think of it, I'd love even more to see The Dain Curse as a great film. It's been done once, IIRC a made-for-TV movie in the 70s. Never seen it. It reads like a kickass movie script.
There's a reason Flint's parents named him Dashiell.

If you liked Yojimbo, check out the quasi sequel Sanjuro. Its the same character, helping a group of hapless Samurai against a tyrant.
Toshiro Mifune is da bomb. Lucas wanted him to play ObiWan.

Just finished up Fargo.
Good, not great.
I think it had been overhyped over the years.

I can agree with that assessment. As much blowjobbing the Coen Bros get from critics, only a few of their films are worth second viewings. TBL being the obvious one. No Country For Old Men is also a great film.

Looking at their list of films, Fargo is only the 2nd movie of theirs that I've seen.
The first was true Grit, which I loved.
I've seen about half of No Country For Old Men, which I've been planning on finishing/starting over for some time.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a definite must-see Coen Bros movie. The Ladykillers is pretty underrated, too.

I saw SuckerPunch today. I enjoyed it, but its not gonna be winning any writing or acting awards. I was surprised by the softcore orgy halfway through a supposedly PG-13 film. I'm not opposed to gratuitous boob fondling by five nubile naked young actresses, but it felt out of place. And Scott Glen was the wrong guy for that part.

'the men who stare at goats' was great, as was 'burn after reading'.

There's no boobies. I made that up.
Well there ARE boobies. but at all times they are covered in fabric. And nobody gropes or fondles anybody. Not even self groping.
