Destro #1 by Dan Watters came out this week. It starts off with Destro taking control of Darklonia, and ends with him starting a war with Extensive Enterprises, aka Tomax and Xamot.

All four minis have had solid starts. They are slowly world building the right way with all these Joe books. My only minor beef is that when Destro talked to Cobra Commander, CC was already sitting in a room with giant computer screens and a bunch of vague control panels with switches and buttons. Like a generic bad guy lair. Seeing as how they JUST got the idea of Cobra up and running, it seemed out of place. But it was like a couple panels, so more irksome than anything.

Skybound sucks.

I preordered the first volumes of Voided Rivals, Transformers, Duke, and Cobra Commander months ago from Amazon.

Void Rivals arrived on release date.

Transformers arrived on release date.

Now, whether you or I liked either of these turds, they've proven very popular. Obviously, demand is there.

Duke came out a couple of weeks ago, and I got an email that they couldn't fill orders. I should hopefully get it by the end of July.

Cobra Commander came out today, and they have no idea when they can get it to me.

I feel like I'm getting Valiant Comics circa 1991.

The last issue of GIJoe ended on a cliffhanger, with Clutch’s army jeep transforming out from under him into Hound.
The FCBD issue picks up immediately thereafter. Clutch assumes the giant robot is the enemy(since the only interaction humans have had is Decepticons squishing humans with their bare hands) and attacks. After he damages Hound and then realizes his mistake, he takes Hound to a friend of his for repairs…Matt Trakker.

Yup. M.A.S.K. is joining the Energon Universe in some capacity. One would hope they drop Void Rivals from the rotation, but we won’t be that lucky.

I thought Duke was into Scarlett. Pete Hegseth is going to be pissed. Can't say I'm surprised about Cobra Commander since he always has been a bit flamboyant.

Duke better not be into Scarlett.

Snake Eyes would chop his tiny nuts off and toss them to Timber.

Snake Eyes hasn’t even been mentioned yet. Which is another reason I’m loving the restrained world building of this new creative team. Doing it right from the ground up and not immediately going for the favorite toy in the sandbox.

At the end of the current issue of GIJoe, Duke gives Flint’s NightForce team their next assignment. They need to break their next recruit out of prison. The dossier on his desk is…Shooter! I know I keep fluffing Josh Williamson, but man is he doing everything correct on this book.

My Transformers PDF's reminded me that Skybound has still never collected the final few issues of ARAH from IDW. For trade collectors/readers; this leaves a big and very important gap.

The latest issue of GIJoe concluded the Deadnok War story arc…and had the bestest, jaw dropping fucking twist in forever.

I won’t spoil it because anarky waits for the Trades to come out, and hopefully he can avoid getting spoiled and experience it raw for himself.

But I yelled ‘ohmifuckinggod!!’ and literally jumped off the couch and nearly tore my copy when I read it.

A new wave of Silent Issues are coming out in April. This time, they’re starring Cobra; Baroness, Zartan, Copperhead, Firefly, and the Crimson Guard are getting oneshots.

Larry Hama did a AMA on Reddit today.

Haven't read the whole thing, but Hasbro really tried to fuck up GI Joe.

I'm glad Hama basically has full, unhampered control over the comic now. It's gotten pretty fricking weird at times when editors meddle.

That said, if he had an editor now who would stand up to him, continuity might be tighter. Not saying it should be tighter, but some folks would prefer it that way. His Sneak Peek fuckup was a ridiculous mistake that anyone who geeked out over the original comic would've caught... but then we wouldn't have gotten the superb retcon explanation story.

Oh, and I placed my order for Vols. 5-8 this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see it includes a lot of the 25th Anniversary pack-in comics. Not in the proper place for reading order, but at least they're there. The stories he wrote for Devil's Due that he considers canon, though, are not, but that's a minor quibble. (If you haven't read it, the Mindbender origin comic is absolutely batshit insane and one of his best. It's one thing to see text explaining why he is the way he is, another to actually read it happening. "I'm an orthodontist experimenting with brainwave manipulation to replace anesthesia, and my hobbies include bodybuilding, artificial intelligence, cybernetics, and human cloning.")

Thanks for linking that. Interesting insights.
