I've never tried with a controller. It looks like a pain in the ass though.

No help from me. The Wii version can, as far as I know, only be played with a guitar.

I've never used the guitar but I've wondered if it's easier as well. I would really have to think that it would be much tougher at the higher difficulties (where orange comes into play) but for easy and medium it may just be slightly more simple.

I got me a second guitar yesterday at a (much nicer) Circuit City. $32 for the Activision Les Paul. The box showed white, but it had an Aerosmith faceplate. Wicked awesome.

Also, Tool kicked our asses last night. I'm not a huge Tool fan by any means, but that second track in that set may be the toughest in the game next to "Hot for Teacher." Well, at least of what I've played.

So how are you likin' the game? Not hating it as much or were you just that bored?

Pass the ketchup... I've got some words to gobble. :)

When I was actually able to go through the tutorials and figure out what I have to do, as opposed to my bros-in-law (who've both played) telling me it's obvious and throwing me right into shit like "Overkill" without preparation, it's a lot of fun. Knowing how to play a game first seems to make a difference.

Wow, anarky actually changed his opinion on something! Write down the date and time; this is historic!

You act like it's not been known to happen. :)

I see why you hesitated at first. That's dirty having them say that. It's not just "that easy" really. It's easy until you move onto hard and try to move down to hit orange. That's when you'll wanna quit the fucking thing.

I'm glad you like it though.

I'm assuming it's the same on all systems, but "Born to Run" and another Springsteen song (off the album that came out Tuesday, but I don't recall what track) are currently free. "Born to Run" is a bit more complex than I expected, but not like one of those "virtuoso" songs like "Ramblin' Man" or "Crazy Train" or "Hot for Teacher."

I just read an interesting tidbit about an upcoming free download from one of our very own almost-forgotten forumites. I'll shoot him a PM and see if he can tell you himself.

You've got the touch
You've got the power

YEAH!

After all is said and done
You've never walked, you've never run,
You're a winner

You've got the moves, you know the streets
You break the rules, you take the heat
You're nobody's fool

You're at your best when when the goin' gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You've got the touch
You've got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You got the heart
You got the motion

You know that when things get too tough
You've got the touch

You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter
It's in the blood, it's in the will
It's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground

And you never get hit when your back's to the wall
Gonna fight to the end and you're takin' it all

You've got the touch
You've got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You've got the heart
You've got the motion
You know that when things get too tough
You've got the touch

You're fightin' fire with fire
You know you've got the touch

You're at your best when when the road gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You've got the touch
You've got the power

You've got the touch
You've got the power

Unless the tracks are free, you use Wii Points. 200 points per song (at least thus far), or $2. I've downloaded all the free stuff (I figure I can delete it if I don't like it, but it doesn't hurt to try) and a few regular songs. The only issue is that a very few songs aren't available on the Wii for various reasons. I think it's most of the tracks from Metallica's Death Magnetic (PS3 and XBox have the full album, Wii has three songs, I think) and the Jimi Hendrix pack. So, even though you get most stuff, the Jimi songs are missing. :(

Wait, I just looked at Wikipedia, and it looks like the Wii Jimi songs were merely delayed until later this month (this week, in fact!). Fuck yeah! "Little Wing" will soon be mine! Too bad "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" isn't on the list yet.
