So, I won't conform backing this monster, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't....

I didn't know the Japanese had a different characters than the US. It looks kind of like some sort of Voltron/Robotech thing.
Target had the Autobot Ark. I just thought it was a ship, but it apparently transforms. That puts a weird spin on the 80s cartoon. Was he dead and the rest of the Autobots just living in his corpse?

The Ark never transformed until the Kingdom toyline. Basically, the Hasbro suits don't like non-transforming Transformers (at least not ones who aren't supposed to transform), which is why last year's Quintesson has this goofy half-assed jail mode. The Netflix series gave a pretty cool explanation in that universe for how the Ark became an actual Transformer. (And a cool aside, the robot mode of the figure is based heavily on a comics-only character called the Last Autobot.)
In Japan, they didn't get that shitty fourth season of TF, but an entirely different show, Headmasters, that continued the story differently. (I've only read summaries and seen clips, since it's never gotten an official US release, and certainly not one in English. But one of the behind-the-scenes videos about Saber made a big deal about interviewing a voice actor known for English dubs of anime and who has no known ties to TF, so the assumption is they're FINALLY going to be released here.) Headmasters led to another show, and to another, with Victory being somewhere in there. Counting comics and other stuff, the original 1984 continuity lasted until just a couple of years ago in Japan, with the 2000-ish Robots in Disguise cartoon in the US being dubbed to look like a reboot (but originally being a continuation) and the actual story behind the Alternators line that we never got here both being part of it. (And if you want to be disturbed, look up Kiss Players... Autobots gain powers by kissing human girls, who then become naked and wet and somehow merged with them, and also all the Decepticons have prehensile tongues that look just like dicks, because Japanese fiction can get fucking weird, and even they pretend that one never happened.)
Star Saber actually did appear in IDW's TF comic, which was its own (fucking incredible) universe, which is where I know him from.

Ok, that's pretty messed up.
If you would have just had me guess what Transformers: Kiss Players were, I'd have guessed that a guitar and bass would have transformed into Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

Vintage Collection Emperor (previously un-re-made vintage card sold me more than the figure, his face is awful), Lando (all-new Bespin version, looks great) and Teebo (again, card more than figure but the figure is ok).
We are getting there. I believe once WalMart ships me their shitty exclusive Luke, DSD & Tusken Raider I'll have 70(ish) remade vintage cards.
Lobot & Endor Luke are also pending which should move it up to 72.

Do you have them all displayed floor to ceiling on a wall?

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
No, my figures are 99.9 percent opened & stashed in rubbermaid bins of various sizes since the last move. I have a few carded figures in boxes, some special ones (Yarna & Snowtrooper 1st edition for example) that are just carded as sentimental mementos more than anything else. I keep the opened cards loose in a stack, consistently being pressed flat by a binder full of trading cards to try & get the creases minimized where possible.
My vision is to one day have them displayed again - my favourite modern version alongside its vintage counterpart in front of that card a shelf somehow... we'll see if I can ever get around to it. If you overlap the cards a bit you can reduce the look of the bubbles being ripped off & just see the photo parts, which are typically just wide enough to have 2 figures in front of.

TVC Death Star Droid - giving AT-ST driver a run for its money as the most boring vintage figure ever put on card (as per Ran's post on the previous page). This is basically a repainted Legacy "build a droid" with a new paint job.

At least the Death Star Droid is shiny. Being a robot helps, too. Kenner didn't choose a very good picture for the card.
Maybe Kenner/Hasbro should have used a picture of Chewbacca tossing the AT-ST driver on the card instead of the pic of just the AT-ST.

Oh man! I love the vintage cards showing the vehicle! AT-AT Driver, B-Wing Pilot, TIE Pilot... some of my favourites!

I haven't been posting all my acquisitions, but this is goddamned glorious.
Scratch that. This is bad comedy.

I can't figure out what is going on in that pic? Is the cape from a different toy?

No, he comes with the crown, cape, shoulder pads, backdrop, and even a throne that was cut from the final movie. I'm not crazy about the weird hinge in the cape, but otherwise he's pretty stellar and waiting for Galvatron to disintegrate him.

Dark Knight Returns Batman and Horse.
I had to buy all four figures(Bat, Supe, Joker, Robin) because the horse was the BAF. It’s ridiculous. I had to have it. No apologies.
