I took the kids to Celebration this morning. I wish I'd gotten tickets now; I thought Baby Nark would be scared, but he had the time of his life running up to people and asking for pictures.

I'm kind of warming up a bit to E7, though I doubt I can work myself up beyond "cautious optimism" before the release. I have confirmed that other people also thought the Vader helmet and "Chewie, we're home" were obviously calculated for a particular response and seem to have worked overall, so at least I don't think I'm a lone lunatic.

Those were definitely calculated shots and they worked...for most of us.

I honestly think I would've been more impressed with the trailer without those two shots. Every other piece else stood on its own without the "we're really not the prequels, I swear!!" of those. I have no problem with them being in the movie, just not the trailer.

The burnt helmet & Han with Chewie were obviously meant to resonate with fans of the OT, but I would disagree with the distancing themselves from the PT - the speeder ripping along at the start was channeling Ani in the podrace or even teen Ani heading out after Shmi, Daisy looked like Padme in AOTC big time, the troopers flying as the guns exploded on board an Imp ship harkened back to EPIII (yes, harkened), as did Shiny McShinytrooper - to me that was a General Grievous shot with another similar robot thingy in his place. I think they tossed in lots for fans of both trilogies.

Something about Rogue I being a war movie without Jedi, focusing on the theft of the Death Star Plans has reared it's head. I like the sounds of it at first glance.

It's like someone somehow wrapped a blowjob in chocolate ice cream and taught it heavy metal guitar. Very little shown, but, holy shit, I guess this is how most people felt watching the TFA trailer.

Yep, very awesome. Cautiously hopeful now for both movies.

Intriguing stuff. Trees, TIE fighter, mountain, clouds, Death Star. Oh the thrills.

The Director as quoted in the article I read, sounded most inarticulate and unfamiliar with any SW lore. "Uh, yeah, Jedi force stuff. Uh, We aint doin' that. This movie is gunna be about mysterious chicks with guns an' shit." Is what came across to me. I mean, nice that we get a movie set just before the OT, filling in at least a small part of those 20 years between trilogies. Huge potential to fuck the movie up though. "That's no moon, that's a giant bomb going off in the faces of Disney execs." kind of thing. Gareth Edwards isn't a brilliant director. Monsters and Godzilla. Neither of which are up to snuff. And isn't it galling how everyone attached to these movies is saying "I'm a huge Star Wars fan" when you just know most of them have never seen the OT and probably the PT only once. All these interviews there's a house of mouse hitman standing behind a curtain ready to off them if they say anything honest and unscripted. Pffft.

You could be the very next house of mouse hitman! I'm sure the pay & benefits would be outstanding.

Being a hitman is my dream job. Unfortunately my eyesight is too poor to be a decent marksman.

Now fanboys everywhere are rejoicing because Boba Fett was shown in a promo shot for Battlefronts. Never mind the fucking fact that he's literally 70-80 fucking years old in that game (if it's set in the TFA time frame which I think it is). These sad little boys will just gloss over that fact by saying "it's teh Fettster!!11! He can do teh anything because he's kewl!!!".

They will wank about Boba no matter what - but Battlefront battles from the old games have previously taken place at various & sundry times & locations throughout the Saga - I would suggest Boba is likely Boba at the Sarlacc Pit during the failed executions (& Vader is Vader deciding to take part in the battle on Endor instead of going back to the Death Star with Luke for whatever reason). Both Luke & Vader could be found taking part in the battle of Hoth on the old Battlefront games, just to give an idea.

But the wanking though, oh the wanking.

Fett should stay dead. There is not a single post-Sarlaac Boba Fett story that didn't suck and couldn't easily take place pre-Sarlaac.
