Bowling for Columbine

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Bowling for Columbine

Post by jjreason »

Anyone else seen this? Michael Moore is often funny and thought provoking, but I have never been touched by his work before last night. Watching this uncomfortable gun control documentary had me close to tears at least 3 times (watching the dad of the one young kid who got whacked by those assholes was way too much for me - that guy's stronger than Thor). I would recommend this to anyone, especially anyone with kids. Unbelievable.

Oh, and I used to eat at the Taco Bell he shows in Sarnia, Ontario. It's right beside a CIBC bank I used to service when I worked for Loomis. I bought all of the SW cups and toppers from the Special Editions at that very restaurant.

this movie is amazing. the difference between the two "meetings" with kmart, first on his own, and then with the media was a great illustration of how two-faced corporations can be.

unfortunately, they still sell bullets in kmart...

Why am I not surprised? I was waiting for him to do the disappointing follow up visit to Kmart 6 months down the road. I do, though, think he was honestly surprised and happy with their decision to stop at the time - he looked shocked as hell.

Great movie, very entertaining and thought provoking.
But like all his other movies, very biased and one-sided.

Out of his big 3 of the last few years (Bowling, Fahrenheit 9/11, and Sicko), I think Sicko was the one that pissed me off the most...but in a good way.

That's the one I haven't seen yet. I understand it's a bit less... partisan. Is that correct?

I think he raises good points in all his movies, but he likes to pick and choose his facts. Fortunately for him (and the same goes for Al Franken), he's a lot more entertaining in doing it.

Yeah, but he still gets a few shots good shots in. :mabs:

It is a good movie that will entertain you and piss you off at the same time, especially when he shows how the medical field is run in other countries.

I don't like the guy. I don't like how he ambushes people. I don't like how he decides BEFORE he makes the movie what his stance is, then edits it to favor his outcome in such a malicious manner. Then has the balls to call it a documentary.

It's as if I decided to make a movie called "anarky is a fucker." then went out and harrassed anarky and his neighbors and got tons of video footage of him in compromising situations. Then threw out all the footage of him volunteering down at the soup kitchen and reading to his kids and helping th old lady across the street and used the footage of him calling me an asshole because I jammed a camera in his face and accused him of raping dogs. Then turn around and go "See? Not only is he a fucker, he must rape dogs, because he got all defensive about it when I asked him..."

Michael Moore is a fat asshole.

Bowling for Columbine was essentially a two-hour ad for Canada. :P
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

And featured plenty of Michael Moore just practically walking into people's houses to prove that they don't lock their doors.

Here's something strange as hell.

I just searched for Sicko on amazon.com to see how much they had it for. (More than the brick-and-mortars, in this case.) The weird thing is, the search brought up all of Moore's films, a few anti-Moore films, other things with Sicko in the title...

...and a review of Sicko available for purchase.

I'm not kidding here. It said it was an HTML document, and it cost $14.95. Obviously I'm not going to buy it, but isn't that just a little insane? "Movie reviews are available for free, so I, an unknown (likely amateur) reviewer, am going to charge fifteen bucks for people to read mine."

You could probably buy black market livers on amazon.

I was going to call the guy selling the review a dirty name....

but you'll have to give me $4.95 in order to hear it.
