It was indeed.
They have new versions of Red/Blue coming out in Mattel's new DC Super-Heroes line. I believe they are in the second wave, spring 2008.

Oh, why are they making new Super Red and Blue? Probably because Mattel has already made every other Superman costume they could possibly imagine in the last three years in the Superman and Batman waves.
And since they still need "name" characters in each wave, (who the hell is going to get excited about Big Barda, or Monsieur Mallah and the Brain? Really, DC, you need to get some less gay characters in your books...) they dug into the well and found Red/Blue.
I bet their primary color-ness will be a big hit with children.
