So Im watching Justice League with Miranda this morning, and it was pretty good. Superman is caught by Darkseid who's trying to use him to balance the chaos in the universe or something. Either way, Supes is rescued and winds up scrapping with Darkseid. Before they get going however:

Darkseid: "I've beaten you time and time again. Humbled you. What makes you think this time will be any different?"

Supes: "Because this time Im not going to stop until you're a greasy smear on my fist."

(Clark, is that you?????)

The fight goes for a minute, then Bats comes in and jumps Supes who won't leave even though Apokalips is going to explode. They transport back to a safe haven (with the New Gods, interestingly enough). The explosion rips the sky....

Bats: "There's no way anything could have survived that."

Clark: "You're not always right, Bruce."

(Clark???????????)

What the hell did Superman get into? He's not cool like that! This was a pretty great cartoon.

Everyone's cool with the right writer. Can you imagine David Mamet superhero dialogue?

I've heard that name before, but I don't know what he does offhand. Help me out.

He's a screenwriter who writes wickedly snappy, if somewhat stylized, dialogue. He wrote Glen Gary Glen Ross, among others.

Remember that Gene Hackman heist movie that came out a couple years ago? i was watching the trailer and thinking gee, this sounds like Mamet dialogue, and then it comes up on screen "Written and Directed by David Mamet." Cool.

Sample. "My man is so cool, when he sleeps, sheep count him."

Ha! I loved Glengarry for the dialogue.

"You fucking cunt. You FUCKING cunt!"

How you gonna top that?

Gimli, after he shakes off the awe of what Legolas just accomplished:

"It still only counts as one."

Wow digging this one up and dusting it off. There was probably more stuff in here that got erased over the last couple years.

Kitty Pryde's monologue to Emma Frost on the nature of evil from Astonishing X-Men #2 is probably one of the best "lines" I've read in a long time. it still gives me goosebumps.

And her "yeahbuhWHA??" from last issue can be the new catchphrase for anything that makes you scratch your head. Like "Dancing with the Stars" making it to season two.

YeahbuhWHA??
