you walk wrong

so, i have a bit of a foot problem - my big toe on my right foot has been giving me problems for about a year and a half now - i have a sensitivity in the metatarsal-phalangeal joint on my right foot that is always a bit... uncomfortable. but once i step wrong or just hit the threshold of what it will tolerate, then i have a sharp pain followed by an entire rest of the day's worth of ultra-sensitivity and less sharp pains if i repeatedly step wrong/hard.

this got me to do a search for "the best shoes for your feet" which led me to this article:

http://nymag.com/health/features/46213/

so, basically, no shoes are the best for your feet - all shoes are bad. we're meant to be barefoot, our bodies are honed to work best barefoot.

but, we live in towns and cities, with things all around that want to cut and infect your feet, so going barefoot is not an optimal solution. so this company, terra plana, has created a shoe that's little more than a moccasin or sock with a super-thin puncture-resistant and ultimately flexible sole that acts as though you are walking barefoot. they look rather stylish, too. i think i want to try these out.

the addition of low-waste, sustainable non-toxic manufacturing is a plus as well.

As children we are naturally inclined to go barefoot. I remember having soles so tough in the summertime I could stick a nail through it and nothing happened. Its too bad we grow out of that, Shoes turn our feet into pussies. And I mean effeminate pansies, not vaginas.

i dunno... my daughter is obsessed with shoes, unfortunately. she's in a barefoot kick recently, but she's been all about the shoes for a while previously.

Pretty pricey, especially since you're going to be saying "FUCK, these things KILL my feet - there's no goddamned cushioning!!!" 10 minutes after you put them on!

yes, but you only need cushioning because your feet are soft from wearing all that cushioning around them. the testimonials on the site are pretty convincing... of course, they're supposed to be ;)
