Guns N' Roses to release new album next month!

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

Guns N' Roses to release new album next month!

NEW YORK (Billboard) - More than a decade after its conception, Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" will finally see the light of day before year's end, sources close to the situation told Billboard.

The set will be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, November 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.

In the run-up to release date, album track "Shackler's Revenge" will debut in the video game "Rock Band 2," while a portion of "If the World" is playing over the end credits in the new Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies."

In addition, GNR's seminal 1987 full-length debut, "Appetite for Destruction," will be reissued on vinyl on October 28 via Interscope.

The band's last new studio albums were the simultaneously released "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" in September 1991. A covers set, "The Spaghetti Incident?," followed in 1993, and featured some of the last GNR recordings from original guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

This spring, soft drink manufacturer Dr Pepper offered to send a free can of the beverage to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-GNR members Slash and Buckethead) if "Chinese Democracy" were to arrive anytime during the calendar year 2008. A Dr Pepper spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

Anyone else believe it's really happening this time? This reporter doesn't. And if it does really come out, and Buckethead and Shaquille O'Neal don't make the final album, I'm gonna be pissed.
Putting the broad back into broadcasting.

Is there any way possible that this will live up to the 15 years of hype?

I submit no.

But I'm getting my free can o' soda pop!

Thing is, I know I'll be first in line to get it, and I'll be disappointed. It'll be like "Oh My God" all over again. (If you happen to not know, that was a GNR track that came out on the End of Days soundtrack in 1999. After eight years since a proper GNR album, to say it was a disappointment was a huge understatement. It sounded like Axl singing badly over a track by a mediocre Nine Inch Nails cover band. The Eminem song on the album was better. And you know how much I loathe most of Eminem's ouevre.)

I'm not even saying it will be bad, or good or anything. Under normal circumstances, say if it had been released one year after the last album(s), it would get a fair shake. But now? It's fucked no matter what. It would have to be the pinnacle of Modern American Rock music and then step it up two more notches for it to be even given an objective ruling. As it is, nobody is going to like it, even if it happens to be decent. Axl Rose fucked himself by waiting.

So...I could spoil it for all of you guys...I got the bootleg copy that was released by one of the engineers that "worked" on it.....being a big GNR fan (as vynsane can attest to) I got my opinions but I will hold them to myself unless ya'll want a spoiler.

On another note, the new Metallica is growing on me faster than.... ah, I ain't got no fun quirky saying for that, but you get the idea.

I'm interested in your opinions, jdr3. I'll still be getting it. I'm such a GNR nut that I have all of their solo albums and a crapload of import singles and such (except for the fairly recent Roots of Guns n Roses, which I've been hoping to find for less than the insane list price of $16, but I'll probably end up getting used). Basically, if you even contributed so much as an armpit fart in the background of "Coma," you've got me by the balls.

Alright, you asked for it. It is definitely not GNR anymore. The mix was hopefully just a temp, but the direction of it felt completely wrong. The song writing has really gone down and feels very immature. I mean true, it is just Axl, who I used to have some respect for, and if you actually listen to some of the past stuff there were big hints of immaturity, but this almost sounds like stuff I wrote back in grade school when I was dreaming of being in a kick ass bad like Guns n' Roses. One of my co-workers said that if you could get past the whining vocals, that the music is still pretty rockin' on a couple of the tracks, I have to disagree. If this was a project I have been working on for the past 14 years, I would seriously think of just offing myself because I would just be wasting air. Actually, I don't wish harm on Axl, he was a great frontman, but he is not the band. I've tried to like it, and I will keep trying because I never give up, but it is going to be a long uphill battle. :frus: :frus: :frus:

I was actually thinking that as I typed it. I was going to throw in a "Kinda like the Prequels" But...you know...I don't give a fuck about Star Wars at ALL anymore. And this is a topic about GnR.

I played their new song "Shackler's Revenge" (Fucking stupid title, BTW...sounds more like a roller coaster at Six Flags) on Rock Band 2. Not impressed at all. It sounds more like Nine Inch Nails than Guns N Roses. What's the damn point? And besides, what's GNR without Slash?

Fifteen years ago, I said, "What's GNR without Izzy?" Thankfully, they replaced him with Gilby, who was a close approximation (if not quite as monstrously cool). But now they're missing Slash, Izzy, Gilby, Duff, and Matt, and maybe Dizzy (I can't recall if he's in the latest incarnation or not).

Slash is more flashy and gets more attention, but methinks Izzy is a better guitarist overall. His style is just a bit more restrained. Duff isn't far behind. Listen to "Sweet Child o' Mine" and tune out Slash's lead. The rhythm and bass guitar are fucking amazing. (He's certainly the better solo artist and songwriter. Slash's solo career sucked ass aside from one good song on his first album.)
