DCU Decisions: Worst idea ever?

Is it just me, or is actually spelling out the political views of the DC heroes moronic no matter how it turns out?

I haven't been able to find many spoilers, but, apparently, Batman is center-left, Green Arrow is far left, and Guy Gardner and Wonder Woman are far right. Superman is left, and Lois is right (not sure how far either goes).

What the fuck? Batman isn't center-anything. That motherfucker is full-tilt to one end of the spectrum or the other. Wonder Woman doesn't at all strike me as a Republican. Nor does Lois (liberal media, and all).

Apparently, these characterizations don't have to be recognized by or consistent with other books, from what I read, but are considered correct. :???:

Never mind that some of them seem off base (Ollie and Guy being the only ones who seem dead-on). Part of the appeal of characters like this are that they are apolitical. Anyone can see themselves in them. There's a reason Ollie North can wear his politics on his sleeve, but Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent can't.

Plus, aren't they worried about possibly alienating some of the few readers they have left, with weirdos who are so extreme on either side that they'll drop a book because someone said the main character is a member of the opposing party?

I agree it's completely stupid. Sure, characters might feel strongly about an issue ( I bet Batman is for gun control!) But don't give them bi-partisan political views.

They've gone 70+ years without them, what idiot thought it would be a good idea to start now?
