Tell me a story about something that happened to you that made you feel SO GOOD, it was amazing. These moments aren't always the obvious things, are they? I do remember the first time I got laid, but it isn't the marathon fuck session of a lifetime now is it?

A simple recent one for me: I'm walking in the mall, and three lovely young ladies, 18-20, fresh from the beach are walking in there as well. One asian, one East Indian, one blonde. As we past each other, I smiled at them, they kept walking. They started giggling and I distinctly heard the word "cute" as they laughed. Stupid yeah, but for a fat 33 year old with greying hair - killer.

All time high: city high school basketball finals, 1991. Beal Secondary School, London, Ontario, Canada. Overtime. We're up by 3 having overcome a halftime deficit of 13 points, they have the ball. I'm on the bench. Their guard throws up a 3-ball at the buzzer to tie, and it rims out. I jumped off the bench and if felt like I was floating. Never, ever has life been so grand. For the next 24 hours everything smelled like roses, it was the only really significant sports championship team I was ever on - what a moment.

Hmmmmm having to switch into "sentimental mode" HERE is kinda tough but I'll give 'er a shot-

Most recently- I have this fern that my sister gave me maybe 6 years ago for my birthday. Every summer I hang it outside, since it grows real good and looks nice to boot.... (and remember I lived right next door for a few years and always did the same thing, but this story is the first time it happened)

So I hung it out dutifully as soon as the weather got nice enough. After a few days, I started to notice that when I went outside I would get the impression that a bird flew hastily away from it, everytime.
After a few days of this, I got real curious and checked it out, only to find the beginnings of a little nest. I figured that the fact that I sppoked them every time would dissuade them from going through with actually building it, but I was wrong. After a few days, it was done- a perfect little nest with a nice woven white "cushion" in the bottom.
a few days later there was an egg, then 2 then 5 then finally six- all about the size of a fingernail.
I tried to keep the cats away and didn't water the poor fern for the duration, and eventually they hatched and grew- all six of the babies grew to full-sized birds, then one day they flew off one by one. I got pics of them at pretty much all stages, and it was really sweet to see their little cheeping heads rise up one-by-one, like some badly handled puppets, at feeding time.

An odd thing I found out later- my Grandma, who passed away last year, had the same kind of birds nesting at her house every year. I found it strange that the first year after she passed away the birds appeared at my house for the first time.
MAN I never thought I would post something so ..... "heartwarming" here, I feel the opposite of dirty whatever that is [beard]

Oh and the birds were house finches, nice little red-headed fellows with pretty songs

Mabs, that's amazing. I'm so happy you were able to get pictures along the way. Most amazing, the coincidence between your gramma and you as well. Excellent story - and only the potting soil approacheds dirty.

i like sublime they are a good band. too bad the guitarist died in a helacopter accident.
