We were watching the season finale of SNL last night (‘we’ consisted of me, my GF, and my daughter) and on Weekend Update Colin made a joke about the ‘Yanni/Laurel’ thing. He said something like ‘Unless you’re hearing Yanni. Then you’re a weirdo.’ And none of us were getting the reference or had heard about this thing. So my daughter was like ‘Wait. I heard Yanni. What does that mean?’ and I was like ‘it’s a joke. Everybody heard Yanni’
To which my girlfriend replied ‘I heard Laurel’ and both me and my daughter were like ‘wait, what??’ And we were all ‘Are you fucking with us right now?’ And my girlfriend was like “No. are you fucking with ME right now?!’
Because we were all convinced we had heard the only possible thing you could hear.
So we looked it up on YouTube and listened again.
It’s totally Yanni.

Laurel. I've never heard Yanni. I did however see the dress both ways at varying times. I'm worried they're subliminally trying to convince me to like country music with shit like this.

You hear Yanni or Laurel based on how good your hearing is. I can't hear high frequencies, so I hear Laurel.
