Well the silver lining is you saved a few bucks and another interaction with the mrs that likely would have led to another post in the other thread.

Well, I got a coupon for 15% off an entire purchase at Borders, and, with the paperbacks being 40% off, they wound up being 49% off. So almost half price. I went to a closer store, which turned out to have close to the same selection, and got quite a haul. (I figure I'm carrying a balance this month anyway; may as well let part of that be my spending on deals that aren't likely to repeat themselves anytime soon.)
Batman: The Brave and the Bold Vol. 2
iZombie Vol. 1 (Didn't know this was Allred--didn't look that closely last time.)
Preacher Vols. 5-6, 8-9
Sandman Vol. 3 ($20 normally? Fuck. That's a damned expensive title.)
Scalped Vol. 1
The Smurfs and the Howlibird (for Anarky Jr)
Y: The Last Man Vols. 4, 7-10
Had to leave all the Walking Dead, Punisher, and X-Men Forever stuff. If they have 'em still next month, I'll get them then.

X-Men Jizzum 2,3
Uncanny 542 (FI)
FF 7,8
DD 2
Cap 2
Cap & Bucky 621
Avengers 16 (FI)
Some Cap & Bucky all ages one-shot for Tom. He liked it well enough.

I bought issue #1 because it was $1 and it was Allred. I enjoyed it because it was different from everything else I was reading.
Batman: Arkham City #5 of 5 - Final issue that leads right into the game. Ends with lots of cool splash pages of the rogues gallery.
Batman: The Dark Knight #5 - The story that started out pretty cool limps to the finish line. Notable only in the fact that Batman actually fails in his mission.
Batman Incorporated #8 - Wayne industries creates the internet 3.0 and an evil virus gets in. Feels like it was written in 1996 and has some of the worst computer-generated art I've ever seen.
The Bionic Man #1 - Much like Green Hornet, this is the adaption of Kevin Smith's unused script. Slow start and pretty cliche, but GH ended up pretty good so I'll keep reading.
Criminal: The Last of the Innocent #3 - Another great issue in a great series.
Gotham City Sirens #26 - Catwoman reveals to Harley and Ivy that this entire series was all a plan by Bat-Dick. Catwoman kept Harley and Ivy occupied so Dick didn't have to worry about either of them wreaking havoc in Gotham. Then she lets them get away. Is every DC final issue going to end with a whimper?
Kick-Ass 2 #3 - Not digging this series like I did the first.
The Punisher #2 - I don't about this series yet. I'm not saying it sucks, far from it, but it reads too much like a tv cop drama. I'm not big on Rucka's decision to not know what Frank is thinking or his motivations.

I got 20 books this week, 7 of them DC final issues, but I probably could've missed 4 of them. But on the plus side, I had ZERO Event tie-ins this week.
Batman Gates of Gotham 5. Lst issue of the miniseries. Still looking for the first issue so I haven't read any of them.
Captain America/Bucky 621. Cap and Bucky fight some Nazis in WWII.
FF 8. After two issues of Blackbolt sidestory, we are back in the main battle between the Future Foundation and the Evil Reeds. Until Mad Thinker and Wizard shoot Doom in the back and swith sides. Awesome.
GIJoe ARAH 169. SnakeEyes, Stormshadow, and Billy find the long lost Russian branch of the Arishikage Clan who have set up a dojo in Brooklyn. Like ya do.
Snake Eyes 4. Snake Eyes' team puts a bullet between Khallikan's eyes. So i guess THAT guy isn't gonna be the new CObra Commander. heh.
Gotham City Sirens 26. What Diabolical said.
Green Arrow 15. FINAL ISSUE. GA saves some congressman on the steps of the Capital Building.
Green Lantern Emerald Warriors 13. FINAL ISSUE. Guy team up with Batman in this inventory story. They manage to work in a "One Punch" joke at the end.
Iron Age Omega. The end on the mniseries, of which I didn't buy any of the overpriced middle issues.
Justice Society America 54. FINAL ISSUE. The original Green Lantern sacrifices himself to save the rest of the team and a small town.
Punisher 2. Rucka continues to get Frank back to his roots of just kicking ass.
Action Comics 904.FINAL ISSUE. The Superman "Family" defeats Superman, and then Lois has one last heartfelt talk with Clark about what Superman means to people. Considering its the final issue for the longest ongoing series ever, its very understated.
Superman Beyond 0. A oneshot set in the Batman Beyond universe. By Defalco and Frenz. Take that as you will.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1. Eastman reboots his seminal indie franchise. Decent, but not compelling enough to keep buying it.
Teen Titans 100. FINAL ISSUE. The Titans defeat SuperboyPrime one final time, then have a bunch of small moments of closure between the entire cast. And a bunch of pinups of various eras teams.
Transformers 23. The issue I missed from a couple weeks ago. A young Orion Pax challenges the Cybertron Senate. Another fantastic issue.
Transformers 24. Chaos begins. Optimus and his crew arrive at Cybertron to confront Galvatron's Army. Beautiful Ramondelli art.
Wolverine 14. The Red Right Hand put the finishing touches on their revenge plot...by all drinking poison kool-aid. Then they leave him a pre-recorded message letting him know the five guys he killed to get into the room were actually his bastard children. OOH! PWNED BITCH! How's it feel, asshole?! HUh?? HUH??!?
Wonder Woman 614.FINAL ISSUE. The Odyssey comes to an end, and then much like the Action Comics issue, Diana has a final moment with her mother and fellow Theymescrians. but its too little too late.
X-Men Legacy 254.Rogue's team is in Shi-Ar space looking to rescue Rachel, Alex, and Lorna.

I went to the other local Borders today. I wanted to see if they had Y Vol. 3 and/or Transformers Vol. 2. No luck. But I'm so fucking weak. Let's just say I have no room to complain about anyone else in this household wasting money, and I'll post my hauls in a few minutes (most likely with an invitation for Grimlock to fellate me).

Heywood Jablome, Grimlock!!
Here's what I got. Aside from new stuff, I'm taking a pretty serious break from buying more (well, maybe I'll get volumes I'm missing if it's only a book or two, but I'm waiting until I actually am reading them).
DMZ Vols. 1-2
Ex Machina Vol. 2
Sandman Vols. 6, 8-9 (it's pretty wacked when all current volumes of Sandman are $20... Vol. 8 is 6 issues, and Vol. 9 is 13 issues... why the fuck are they the same price???)
Scalped Vols. 3-5, 7 (woo hoo! up to date!)
Vietnamerica: A Family's Journey (the only hardback I got)
Y: The Last Man Vols. 3, 5 (only missing one volume now, I think #6)

Rocketeer Adventures #4 - Final issue of the mini. I hope IDW does an ongoing.
I picked up Serenity: Better Days and Other Stories in hardcover since my LCS had a 40% off all trades. I had 3/4 of this in floppies, but the hardcover looks nice. Now I want the first one, Those Left Behind, in hardcover.

A super small week for me with 6 books that I padded out to eight to get the second free issue. I probably couldve gone the other direction and cut two issues and been just as satisfied with my purchases.
Here's what I got.
Amazing Spidey 668. SpiderIsland continues. Civilian Peter Parker gives a rousing speech to all the decent hard working New Yorkers with spider powers to rail against the Jackal's costumed ne'erdowells.
SpiderIsland:Deadly Hands of Kung Fu 1. Shang Chi gets his own tie-in mini series. Not a fan of Fiumara's art. And the story is kinda limp.
Gambit and the Champions: From the Marvel Vault oneshot. Only reason I got this was for the 'lost' George Tuska art.
Incredible Hulks 635. Final Issue. Grek Pak ends his 5+ year run on the character that started with Planet Hulk. A nice send off.
Journey into Mystery 626.1. A 'point one' issue that summarizes that JiM is now a Loki-centric book. It was NOT written or drawn by the regular art team, despite that being one of Marvel's selling points about this point one initiative.
Thor 5. More Silver Surfer/Thor fighting (this time on the surface of Mars. Kewl.) As well as Odin and Galactus fighting. Epic, in a dull kind of way.
Titans 38. Final issue from last week I bought just to pad out the 8. I wanted to how Eric Wallace finished off his Titans run and he didn't disappoint. Any by that I mean, I figured it would be a travesty of writing and it was. So it DID disappoint, but my expectations of disappointment were validated. You suck Eric Wallace and you are one of the main reasons I'm not buying the DCnU 52, assfart.
Ultimate Fallout 5. Since my son picked up issues 1 thru 3 and 6, and I already had issue 4 because of Miles Morales, I figured I might as well plug the hole and bought issue 5. This was the other issue I got to get to 8.

From what I've read about the Point One issues, only one or two out of thirty dozen has actually been what they described the initiative as being all about.

Secret Avengers 16
New Avengers Annual 1
ASM 667,668
No DC #1s, but not for lack of trying. I asked for issues 1-4 of 5 titles to be put aside for me and my comic shop guy failed to do so. I don't love DC by any stretch, but this oversight, on the heals of a number of missed issues, has led me right to the trough of quitting his store - I'm just sure I want to drink or not. The sinking feeling of having to track these books down was quickly put aside by my very next thought - I just won't. It's not worth it. I don't want them in 2 months, I want them now. By then they won't have any interest for me. I've been at the store for 5 years and asked for him to put these away for me back on August 13th. No reply from him about "no sorry, I don't think i'll be able to get enough issues" or anything like that.
My problem - there are no other shops close by. I could conceivably deal through one of the stores in London again, but it's an hour away and I really don't want to feel like I "need" to do that drive any more often than I already do (bi-monthly or thereabouts).
/sigh.

I got 12 books this week, and another 3 out of the dollar bin.
Spider-Island: Avengers oneshot. A goofy, but fun story where Ms. Marvel, Jessica Cage, Hawkeye, and Frog-Man fight spider powered ULTIMATUM Agents set on blowing up the U.N. Yes, I said Frog-Man. Who is crushing on Ms. Marvel. And Hawkeye is Spidey-powered but he can't get the sticky to turn off which is also hilarious.
Spider-Island: I[Spider]New York City oneshot. Vignettes of "average" New Yorkers with spider powers. The only great story is the Punisher one by Rucka and Fiumara. Overall I'd say not worth the $3.99 however.
New Avengers Annual 1. Wonder Man and his new team whup the New Avengers ass. Simon's motivations, for me anyway, are still a tad suspect and convoluted. Especially the Scarlet Witch one, since he and she have had "history".
Cobra 4. Major Bludd begins his bid towards the top spot. And Cobra double agent Steeler kills Breaker. WTF?!?
Punisher 3. Frank fights the new Vulture for almost the entire issue.
Red Skull Incarnate 3. Johann Schmidt's origin continues. In this issue the Reichstag fire and Hitler comes to power.
Supergirl 67. Final issue from a few weeks ago. I bought it to pad out my 12 issues. Not the worst of the final issues.
Thunderbolts 163. Since I skipped all the Fear Itself issues, I'm playing catch up, but apparently some of the TBolts used the Fear Itself Event to escape and wound up back in the 1940s helping the Invaders fight Nazis.
Transformers 25. Meanwhile back on Earth, Ultra Magnus and his team are wondering if their human allies are on the up and up. And then someone drops a building on Prowl.
Wolverine 15. Logan is depressed after last issue. (killing five of your own kids will do that to you.) So he keeps climbing up a big tall mountain and throwing himself off.
Wolverine: Debt of Death oneshot. A reaallly awesome oneshot by David Lapham and David Aja. I quote the splash page "A Wolverine Tale featuring Shinpu Attack Robots, Ninjas, killing, explosions, preventive spheres of doom, and the always welcome Nicholas Fury." Aja's art alone would've got me to buy this, but a cool story about the Yakuza fiding a cache of WWII Era Japanese robots is just frosting. Wicked.
X-Factor 224.1 A Point 1 issues that actually does what its supposed to. And written by the regular team as well. Shocking. A few of the references to ongoing subplots by Peter David come across as a little obscure, but for the most part a bang up job introducing the team and its goals and setting up the next mystery.
And also Captain America Corps 1, Brightest Day Aftermath:Swamp Thing 1, and Moon Knight 3.

The Boys #58
IZombie #17
Jennifer Blood #4
Morning Glories #12
The Punisher #3
And I picked up two DC #1s, which I'm going give a synopsis of below, so SPOILERS, I guess...
Detective Comics #1 - Batman is hot on the trail of the Joker, who I apparently has been around for six years and only killed 114 people (this Joker must be a pussy). And when Joker kills people, he does it nude (and the only obvious way we know this is because Batman says so - we see Joker but it ain't obvious that he's nekkid). Batman catches up to him, they beat the shit out of each other, Batman wins and takes him to Arkham, where some mystery villain named Dollmaker (who's been secretly teaming up with Joker) shows up and cuts off Joker's face...and Joker is a willing participant.
Meh. Feels like a slightly alternate universe, which it pretty much is. The art is a mixed bag - sometimes really nice, other times hard to follow.
Batgirl#1 - Some guy named Mirror has a list of people to kill. Batgirl saves a couple from a group of home invasion killers in what seems to be her first time back out in costume. That night she has a nightmare, which serves as a flashback for new readers, where she says how the Joker shot and paralyzed her three short years ago, and just when you expect to find out how she can walk again, we get "then a miracle happened." Then Barbara moves into a new apartment with an annoying roommate. Mirror shows up at the hospital to kill one of the murders Barbara stopped the night before. Batgirl shows up and panics when Mirror points a gun at her, giving him time to throw the guy out the window. To be continued...
More meh. Mediocre story with decent art.

Fuuuuuuuuuck.
