so my phone forced me to use Gemini instead of google assistant now, and it is so stupid. i'm driving. i want to play music on my phone and forgot to manually start it before i started moving. not even a month ago, i would just say "hey google, [play, open] pandora" and wouldn't you know it, pandora would open and music would start playing. all hands-free.
now, i say "hey google, open pandora" (because no, i'm not going to say "Gemini") and it says "sorry, i can't open apps while you are in motion." i ask it again:
"sorry, for safety reasons, i am not allowed to open apps while you're driving, is there anything else i can help you with?"
"no, i want you to start playing music on my phone so that i don't have to use my hands to do it."
"i understand your frustration, but i'm not allowed to open apps while you're driving. would you like me to tell you how many more miles until your destination, or suggest places to stop for a break along the way?"
"no, i just want you to play music. i used to be able to ask you to play music so that i wouldn't have to touch my phone. now your safety feature has made it so that i will have to distract myself and use my hands to start the music."
"i understand, it can be frustrating when things don't work the way you expect, especially when it used to be possible, but my safety features prevent me from opening apps while you're driving. is there anything else i can do for you, like suggest restaurants along your route?"
"no, i already did it with my hands, you fuckwit!"
