What have you watched lately?

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

It's better. Much, much better. Aside from the always kickass Gene Wilder and the Oompa Loompa songs, the original one blew.

Though I must clarify there is no crush to speak of. No, you're only allowed one jailbait crush at a time without being considered a sicko, and mine is most definitely still Ms Emma Watson, who puts the "goblets" in the Goblet of Fire. Previous honorees included the lovely Natalie Portman, of course.

(And Robb is still too young even for a jailbait crush. It was merely an observation that, from the looks of things, she's going to be smoking when she's older.)

I stand corrected. I'm sure Ms. Robb will do an indie film at Sundance where she takes off her top for the sake of art at some point in the near future.

I've seen the new one. It was ok. I just wouldn't watch it again if I had the remote in my hand.

Watched The Lake House tonight. I had no interest, but Mrs Anarky wanted to see it.

Surprisingly, it was better than I thought. Admittedly, I had negative expectations. There were some major plot holes, several spots where the storytelling was a bit tough to follow, and an incredibly forced happy ending. Had they cleared these up--and stuck with the tragic ending that's bloody obvious from the get-go (until they go and force a huge paradox to get the two together), it actually could've been a damned good movie.

It was far from "a damned good movie," but it really wouldn't have taken much work to fix it.

As it is, it doesn't come within miles of Somewhere in Time for the tragic time-travelling romance.

That was filmed on Mackinaw Island and I've totally been there - even to a spot that has a sign that says "Somewhere In Time" was filmed on this spot.

I went and saw "The Invisible" this weekend and it sucked. The trailers all made it out to be this spooky murder mystery, but the actual movie has no mystery to it. You watch the "murder" happen and then the guy figures out who did it about 5 minutes later. So not really a mystery there people. It did, however, have a hot former Russian Olympic Rhythm Gymnast in it named Margaritia Levieva. She's a damn little cutie. Almost made the movie redeemable. I said almost.

I watched "Meet the Robinsons", and after a weak start and a phrenetic, rushed meeting of the family.... I wound up liking it. Maybe not buy-the-DVD liking it, but it kept me awake which was nice for a change.

It didn't look especially good to me, but the T-Rex they showed in the commercials was amusing.

I didn't realize until a few weeks after the soundtrack was released that this was my longtime dream come true: Danny Elfman scoring a Disney cartoon. (I don't count NMBC.)

Just finished watching V is for Vendetta. I've never read the comic books or even a single thing about this film, so I had no idea what to expect. I missed the first 10 minutes or so because I turned on HBO after it started.

Not sure if it was because of Natalie Portman, a dude dressed in black wearing a mask, and the main characters, and the bad guys had English accents, but it had a bit of a Star Wars feel to it (In a good way, not the crappy prequel kind of way). It was a good movie. You guys should have made me watch this sooner.

I thought most of us liked, no? I didn't see it until it came out on DVD, so maybe I missed out on the discussion part of it. It was a good movie.

i thoroughly enjoyed it. they messed up the ending, but for the most part it was a well-done modernization of the main themes of the series.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

I watched The Rocketeer for the first time in ages the other night.
Such an awesome movie. I wish there had been sequels.
The special effects have held up surprisingly well over the years.

And at one one point, while trying to give the Rocketeer a name someone throws out "Rocketboy" which is quickly tossed aside as dumb.

I watched Rocky Balboa the other night. Watched some of POTC2 last night on Starz and the end of 40YOV today.

Rogue 2 I thought you had seen V for Vendetta, I actually thought everyone here had seen it. Great freaking movie.

I haven't seen The Rocketeer since it came out on VHS. I barely remember it now.

I've become picky about watching movies. Now I mostly only watch comedies and other movies like Lord of the Rings. I am starting to watch more movies like 300, V is for Vendetta, and Sin City. Still haven't seen Narnia. Big Fish is one of the few movies outside of those genres that I've seen and liked.

History of the World Part I was on Fox Movie Channel a few days ago. After it was over, they showed a preview for a movie called Pathfinder. It looks like it might be good. It is a remake of a Norwegian film.

Naria is a pretty cool movie. Its not the greatest in the world, but if you read the book its worth watching.
