I'm not that worried. EP was a comic geek, and thus will suffer through the embarrassment of being resurrected long before anyone can even begin to miss him - hell, I bet Captain America stays dead longer than EP.

Ermm...I'm not sure how this goes exactly. But since EP died, I think someone should talk about any decent reads that might have come out during the week. Without spoilers, though. I heard JJReason hates spoilers. EP might have died because he spoiled something. Anyway...
Countdown 34. A lot of stuff happens. Like..ermm..that one hero finds those other two guys that were involved in that thing a few weeks back. And those two ladies get invited to that one place. And then those other people are talking to that mean person. And finally, whatisname talks to the smart guy and they build a machine and then something exciting happens.
Amazing Spider-Man 544. The first part of the "One More Day" crossover. Peter Parker ( is that giving too much away?) goes and talks to somebody about...someone in a coma. And then some other stuff happens. Pretty intense.
Captain America: Chosen 1. First issue. A private in the army does some heroic stuff and Captain America may or may not help him. I won't tell you for sure because it might ruin the end of the issue (oh, that was too much wasn't it?! dammit...sorry)
Exiles 98. Well, they are on another worlkd where Dr. Doom and Mr. Fantastic are fighting each othe. But there's a...twist...and then some thing REALLY exciting happens at the end.
G.I.Joe Special Mission...the Enemy A parallel story about Grunt from GIJoe and a nameless Cobra thug rise through the ranks of their organizations. And a back-up story about some Cobra guys and a kidnapping. Good issue.
Incredible Hulk 110. World War Hulk continues. Hulk and a kid get into a fight and then some other stuff happens and the the Hulk MAY smash the kid with his fists. If you want to know for sure, you'll have to read the book, because I'm not giving away anything here.
New Warriors 4 Ohmigosh. I don't want to spoil the ending, but somebody may DIE at the end!!! And it may be a character you've never heard of, if someone does indeed perish. I'm not confirming one way or the other.
Uncanny X-Men 490 Wow. The Morlocks are doing some stuff and there's a person named QWERTY who did some stuff and then SOMETHING having to do with explosives, a tunnel, and Storm's claustrophobia brings the issue to a close. I won't say what though. And there's a backup story with Beast and Bishop about how drugs and drug dealers are bad.

Re: Recommended Reading
I just don't like spoilers without warning in odd places. Usually, prior to EP's demise, he'd discuss the issues in the forums designed specifically for discussing them.... but right near the end he went a bit offside and blurted a few things out in the "What comics did you buy this week?" topic. I don't fault him for it, looking back he must have been feeling the stress of fleeing for his life and dodging bullets and whatnot.

Re: Recommended Reading
Well, well here's some more reading material you may or may not want to peruse through while you are coming up with new posts for the BM topic.
New Avengers 34. Somebody gets his penis shot off! Somebody who may be a "mystical mage" has certain "physical relations" with a certain "Night Nurse". Another persom who may be deaf sees another penis in the shower that nay belong to a certain archer turned faux ninja. The mystic may attemp another spell to ascertain the Skrulliness of everyone involved. And the issue may conclude with everyone runnig off to New York to deal with "Venom Symbiotes"...maybe.
Daredevil 100. A super sized issue with a lot of different guest artists and two complete reprint issues and a bunch of work-in-progress behind the scenes stuff for this very issue.
G.I.Joe 27. A Devil's Due Publishing Event so important they can't even bother to put the title of it on the cover. Hmmph. So a couple of Joe's who are boinking each other go after a COBRA bad guy I've never heard of who apparently used to be a Range-Viper and was good enough to warrant his own codename. And they retcon in a Joe so super secret he's infiltrated COBRA since day one from the very beginning and no one has known about him until now. Agent Delta.
Nova 6. Annihilation Conquest tie in. The new Nova you may or may not have been introduced to last issue may or MAY NOT ( hint hint) be making anymore appearances in the Nova book on account of our hero, who is now the book's main villain, might have interceded with a certain finality. Which makes the last few issues utterly pointless.
Thor 3. A certain armored Avenger has the stones to show up and smugly tell the Thunder God he's going to register because it's the law now. And Thor pretty much reminds smug armored guy that he's a fucking GOD OF THUNDER ( and that he's unhappy with the whole "cloning" thing). You can guess what happens next. Most satisfying book this month.
X-Factor 23. Endangered Species: Chapter 11. No, the Endangered Species backup story is not fiscally insolvent and had to apply for bankruptcy protection. It's just the 11th part of a 17 part series. Everything's okay. Really.

Re: Recommended Reading
Booster Gold 2. Booster travels into the history of the DC Universe to fairly important historical DC moment involving "people with rings". Geoff Johns is such a good writer. I hope that someday he can write a Zero limited series, or an ongoing monthly book, at Marvel. That would rock.
Green Lantern 23. Geoff Johns continues his amazingly energetic Sinestro Corps War. All the bad guys show up at a certain planet that you and I are particularly fond of and well I won't give anything away.
Justice League of America Wedding Special. So two..people...are going to partake in a certain...ceremony ( I won't say what kind) and this book is about the two parties that might happen before that ceremony and may or may not involve strippers. But that hardly takes up any of the story. What really happens is the recreation of a super villain team and the ambush of a certain recently revamped hero who's series was already cancelled and whose name may or may not rhyme with "Wirestorm". Pretty good reading, all told. All though for all intents and purposes this just should have been called JLA #13.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
From the last two weeks:
Amazing Spider-man #544 - One More Day part 1. Peter confronts Iron Douche as Joe Q does his best early 90's McFarlane inspired artwork. The lengthy Spider-history was pretty cool.
Punisher War Journal #11 - Frank talks to Bucky, Bridge talks to Iron Douche, and the dumbass cop from an earlier issue talks to a psychiatrist (or is she?). The Good news: Frank gives up that retarded ass costume. The Bad news: Matt Fraction still writes this.
The Boys #10 - Conclusion to the arc. Features an asteroid that has a pussy...which gets fucked - literally.
Awesome.
Star Wars Legacy #16 - The cover promises "The Legacy of Obi-Wan Kenobi." We get nine pages of a flashback. By the looks of it, if Obi-Wan cut your arm off you become a Sith.
Next up: Darth Ponda Boba!
Daredevil #100 - Telephone book size 100th anniversary issue! Yet another issue where not a lot happens, but is still a great read. Very cool to see all the different artists in the same issue and it works within the context of the story without being a distraction. They could've saved me a buck and not reprinted the old issues in the back.

Wait...
Are you saying that, sometime in that massive stretch of both of them chilling on Tatooine, Obi-Wan cut A'sharad's arm off?
Lame.
Uber-lame.
"Liefeld could do better" lame.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I wonder four things:
1) Where did they find the retarded third-grader to write that?
2) Why doesn't Duursema, being rather talented, draw a book that doesn't blow?
3) How can people defend this sort of ridiculous shit?
and
4) Why the hell have you bought 16 issues of it?

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Meh, she is decent, but needs to stick to one style. She'll do basic comic style art throughout the page, but one panel will look damn near photo realistic and sticks out like a sore thumb. And she really sucks at action, especially lightsaber battles.anarky wrote:2) Why doesn't Duursema, being rather talented, draw a book that doesn't blow?
God help me, I have no idea. I think I may be mentally ill.anarky wrote:4) Why the hell have you bought 16 issues of it?
Probably the same reason I still buy Wolvergins and All-Star Superman.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I didn't say she was great. Just that she was good. Better when she sticks to her super-realistic style, methinks.
I sorta know where you're coming from. I've bought a lot of comics in my lifetime that I didn't really want, never (or begrudgingly) read, and still don't know why I wasted money on them. I've heard that comic collectors have a sort of addictive personality. I'd have to agree, to some extent. I have a lot of Iron Man and Thor comics from back in the day, and, as I've said a million times, I hate those characters. (Though I think both have the potential to not blow goats.)

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
It's the "completist" mentality.
"It will improve next issue."
"A new artist starts in three issues."
"They promise a bold new direction after this story arc."
And you don't want to look back and say "awww man, I dropped that book for three months and now there's a hole in my otherwise 15 year uninterrupted run..."

Yeah - that first issue that you miss is invariably going to go up to $30, be impossible to find and draw you back into buying the title anyhow.... there's no sense in skipping any.

Why would the Norse god of thunder have to comply with U.S. Laws? At any point, does he utter the words: "Don't you know who I am? I'm the..." oh, wait, that was someone else.Zero wrote:Thor 3.
