What software does one need to make an overdubbed cartoon?

Post by anarky »

Sort of along the lines of "Juggernaut Bitch" or KH's unfunny "Batman Beyond Gay," I came up with an awesome idea for one of these overdubbed cartoons.

Trouble is, I know jackshit about video.

Also, to further complicate matters, I only want to overdub one character.

Here's the deal: I visited my parents in Vegas about a week ago. My brother and his wife live there. She does nothing all day except play on MySpace. She doesn't even babysit the 10-month old kid particularly well. She sits him in front of the TV and pops in a DVD of this horribly bad kids' show called Wonder Pets.

This is shitty animation of live action animals. Essentially, there are three--a guinea pig, a duckling, and a turtle--and they have to rescue animals in trouble. Apparently, she said that all the animals in every episode are trapped in a tree. Even the giant panda.

So, I thought it would be fucking funny to overdub only one of the animals (probably the guinea pig) and make him a foul-mouthed gangsta SOB.

Something like this:

DUCK: Oh no! An animal in trouble!
TURTLE: What will we do?
GUINEA PIG: What you lookin' at me for, nigga? I'm just a motherfucking hamster.

DUCK (to the panda bear in the tree): Jump! We'll save you!
GUINEA PIG: Shit, I'd like to see your scrawny duck ass catch a fucking fatass panda bear.

I don't know about the software, but I'd like to see that guinea pig beat box while they sing.

Sounds like you know the show.

I am truly sorry. I feel your pain.

My kids don't watch it very often. When they do insist on watching it in the room I'm in, I've developed the ability to block out carpy children's programming. There are worse shows than Wonder Pets. Make Way for Noddy (Noggin) and "I Spy" (HBO) come to mind. That stupid purple dinosaur is banned from my household.

do you have a mac or windows based computer....you can do it on either, just the software would be different. If you have a Mac you could just do it in iMovie, easy and quick....if you have a windows machine, hmmmm gets a little tougher, those mac/pc commercials don't lie, it's easier to do it on a mac. But you could do it in after effects, premier, maybe even flash. If you got quicktime pro on your computer you can even do it in that.

need anymore info just give me some specifics of what you got and what you know

There was supposed to be a "special" episode of Wonder Pets on recently. They had to save some beetles that were on a yellow submarine. Wish I was making this up. Didn't see it the actual show, only the commercial. I think it is supposed to be a longer episode than normal, so you probably could edit it down to meet your needs.

This is the Wonder Pets? Why the fuck did they give the duckling a speech impediment? Do they want kids to replace their "r"s with "w"s?
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.
