Semi-Dayley dose of METAL

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

that was a great article - i love the fact that not only is christopher lee the oldest man to perform in a metal band, but that he's doing so as the embodiment of his great-great-great-great ancestor, charlemagne, AND he was also a real-life james bond.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

don't need an image and it might get taken down anyways so just a link, from the upcoming Manowar album Battle Hymns 2011, Dark Avenger featuring Christopher Lee (the original part was done by Orson Welles, which is also cool)

On That Metal Show, they have a "where are they now" segment. Someone wrote in last week and asked about Manowar. They explained how they were still touring in Canada and Europe, but metal bands don't draw well in the US. Iron Maiden only has 2 US dates on their current tour, and they are both in Florida.

The "tour" that included that show was announced originally as 2 dates, one in Cleveland and one somewhere in Mass.
When the show I saw sold out in like 2 days they added another the night before.
They played for well over 2 hours and it was fucking awesome. When they were setting up the day before, they actually caused a local blackout when they first fired up their rig and had to bring in a few flatbed trucks loaded with several generators to properly power their gear.

The audience was a crazy mix of folks, there were people from as far away as Alaska, and from places like California, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, British Colombia. Everyone was so stoked to see Manowar, and despite at least half of those in attendance looking like some of the most dangerous people on earth, the sense of brotherhood was truly incredible- I hugged so many folks as we yelled "dude it's fucking MANOWAR", drank many beers with many many people, got invited to several afterparties (after getting up so early and the busride and all I was a bit too tired to hit any of them dammit)

The show itself kicked every kind of ass, the setlist was fucking perfect and the band were in top form. Also, the fact that they had a show in the same venue the night before meant they could work the kinks out proper- for instance, I have seen clips from the show the previous night and they had massive pyro which was absent from the show I saw- they either ran out, or as I suspect from the design and age of the venue and the ridiculous amount of fire that was kicked out, decided it would be unwise to press their luck.

So it was the greatest fucking show I have ever seen, no contest, for many reasons beyond the actual performance.

Oh and I also got to meet Dale/Jedipartnr and we had a super fun time- he is a really funny, friendly dude in person, it is a shame he lives so far away

An awesome song by a band that, sadly, was never heard from again. And a reminder why everyone should own the Transformers movie soundtrack.

Hey boys! I found this video and thought you might like it. It is almost as good as Sheryl Crow's cover of "Sweet Child o' Mine".

GOD! That is so AWESOME!!

Eternal Padawan is DEAD?? Oh no!

Nothing personal, but you just proved you're a fuckhead.

Sheryl Crow is a great artist who had a misfire with a mediocre cover of a great song--a cover that might have been solid if the original wasn't one of the great iconic rock songs of all time.

Miley Cyrus is the epitome of commercialized pap. People joke about Kurt Cobain spinning in his grave, but this would do it. I wouldn't be surprised if his headless zombie dug its way out of the grave to pimp slap that prefab corporate minion for touching his song. And I don't even think Cobain was the indie god many make him out to be.

A somber, reflective version of a classic, by the original artist

Absolutely ridiculous :ducks:

yes, it might as well be called "Doon", but at least it exists- for some reason I find it super catchy, very doon doo doo doo doon :mabs:

EDIT and so looking for more tracks by them, they are in fact an acapella metal group (they do use drums but no other instruments) and apparently "doon" is what metal bass and guitars sound like to them, so pretty much every song is all doon doon dun dun dun doon, it's great
