TV on DVD

most tv sucks these days, but there are some shining examples of good writing, acting, camera work, etc... we call those Deadwood and Arrested Development. Family Guy sucks ass, though...

I just bought Season 1 of Airwolf! Is there a cooler theme song or more 80's looking opening credits anywhere? I submit no.

I've nearly dropped a ton of cash on tvdvd lately - but have managed to hold off so far. What got me going was Sopranos Seasons 1-3 for $59.99 each, and NYPD Blue seasons 1 and 2 for $24.99 each. Those are major savings up here!!!! As of yet, I've still never purchased any TV on DVD other than the Clone Wars cartoons - the longer I can keep that going, the better off I'll be.... I know if I break the dam there's gonna be trouble.

That actually made me giggle in it's pathetic-ness. Care Bears IS out on DVD, Tom Foolery. I know because I bought a bunch of volumes for my daughter on her fifth birthday. But now my son watches them more than she does, which makes me cringe a bit....

PS I got Tour of Duty on DVD and I was a bit dissapointed because they ditched The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black" over the opening credits for some limp instrumental crap. I guess the license rights would've blown their budget.

I can confirm the Care Bears on DVD. My daughter watches them, too. From the 5 minutes I saw, they are horrible.

It's too bad they changed the theme song for Tour of Duty. Does the show hold up over time?

We saw the complete Monty Python expisodes on DVD box set at Costco this weekend for something like $100 or $110. That's more than I'd like to pay for it.

The only TV-DVDs I have in my collection are Season One's of Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, and Drawn Together. It's funny how I haven't got past season one on any of those.

There is a chance get Robot Chicken for my birthday.

I'm having a hard time holding off on the Seinfeld sets. Anyone out there bought them? Are they worth the money (I'm worried about dumping the cash, I can still see about 4 eps a day in syndication).

Seinfeld has been my default Christmas Gift for my dad three years running. It's very worth the $$ for the DVD sets. Hell, the episodes alone are worth owning, but there's a bunch of cool extras.

I don't own them (it's a show I watch, but don't want), but I have seen the first 3 sets on sale for $20 lately.

What is that, like $75 Canadian?

Pretty close, we're at $28.99 up here (which is why my interest in these has suddenly gone way up). I guess they're up to Season 6 as I haven't seen Season 7 anywhere yet (not that I've been looking). Is there a site that has a season by season episode breakdown? I know I liked it more and more as time went on, and would like to see when it's really worth my while to jump in and start buying them.

I recently purchased Futurama Season 3 and 70's show season 1. Gonna pick up season 2 of 70's tomorrow or Thursday at Target. They are 18 bucks this week on sale.

"Band of Brothers" dropped from $100 to $50 at Target right before Christmas. Everybody needs to buy it. Now.

With the exception of "Family Guy", I don;t buy any TV on DVD. Like jj said, I can usually catch several episodes a day in syndication, so why buy the cow when you get the sex for free?

"Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp", on the other hand, may make me change my mind...

And I clicked here today with the intent on posting about Lancelot Link.

So both Seasons 3 AND 4 of Miami Vice just came out, but I could only afford 3. Still, this show rocks old school.

Crockett and Tubbs, bitches. Crockett and Tubbs.
