Anyone? I'm sure it must be next year as I've heard diddly squat and seen nothing on TV yet. Anyone here still playing hardcore on a console?
I've bought a few games on clearance this summer, but haven't been hooked on anything enough to see it through. When Metal Gear Solid stuff starts feeling mundane - you know you may have turned a life corner.

I am still playing GTA Vice City, I have gotten good and stuck on a bunch of stuff... we've been so busy with the house and a bunch of other stuff that I won't be getting really serious about PS2 again until likely november or so.
I'm thinking about grabbing a new game soon though, maybe one of the medal of honour series, unless I just decideto wait for Battlefronts 2 which I imagine will be prety fucking sweet (I still like the original, limited though it may be, it is a pretty slick package, there's no way the next one won't be a TON better, 'specially if ya can play as Jedi)

x-box 360 will be out this year. it was "Unveiled to the world on MTV on Thursday, May 12, 2005" according to the webpage here
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/factsheet.htm
i'm not sure about PS3, though...
i'm still rockin' out on my gamecube and will continue to do so. it's the first console i owned since sega:genesis, so i'm not so up on buying the latest and "greatest."
i am also deeply engaged in the original metroid on my computer through an nes emu.
i will be purchasing ultimate spider-man for GC soon.

I'm almost certainly going to be holding off on the next gen stuff. I can justify having spent the money on PS2 and all the games, because I played the fuck out of it when I had friends that were into the sports, and when FFX came out. That being said, there were a LOT more games that hooked me deep for the old Playstation than there have been for the PS2. I don't think I've even played 10 games for the PS2 to completion. Off the top, I've finished:
Hulk
FFX
MGS2
Tekken Tag
Tekken 4
and that's it, I think. The internet has diminished my gaming time by an enormous margin.

Someone answer me this:
Mrs Anarky told me she read something about the next Nintendo system having full reverse compatibilty all the way back to the original NES. I'm not absolutely sure she's 100% right on that, as it would require several different cartridge slots, as well as how many different operating systems? Needless to say, though, if true, this would rock harder than Iron Maiden in Fred Flinstone's quarry.
Anyone heard anything one way or the other about this?

I don't know how "hip" or "current" this site is, but Rocketboy from the "other site" gave it to me. It's got all of the classic NES games and some other stuff that I wasn't too interested in. I'm not sure what plugins you need to play them since I guess I had them already.
On a side note, work seems to go much faster since I found that site.
As far as being "hooked" on a game, I play SOCOM II online waaaaaaay more than any person really should. And once SOCOM III comes out in October, I'm sure I'll be hooked on that. Also, I go in streaks with the Tiger Woods games (I'm currently "hooked" on 2005). I'll play it constantly for two weeks and then not pick it up for a month. Kinda weird.
Usually I don't get too geeked about video games, but with SOCOM III, Battlefront II, and Tiger Woods 2006 on the horizon, I'm sorta excited.

I would only hope that the games wouldn't be "updated" if it weren't the actual old, old, old cartridges.
My niece has a GBA and has Super Mario 3 for it. The graphics are totally changed, game play and pacing are off, and for some incomprehensible reason, they renamed Princess Toadstool with the incredibly pussy name of Princess Peach.

Man, let me just say that Super Mario 64 was fucking incredible. Huge levels, awesome graphics, amazing side quests...... I loved it. Super Mario 3 was also a wonderful game, but completely limited compared to 64. I've never been able to give a fuck about Super Mario Bros. or part 2 to play them out. Too slow or something.
