1 arrested in scuffle at Comic-Con in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Authorities say a man was arrested at Comic-Con in San Diego for injuring another man with a pen amid a crowd of thousands awaiting a film preview.

Police Officer David Stafford says the two men got into an argument over sitting too close to each other. He says one man was struck with a pen and hospitalized with a minor cut around his eyelid, the other was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Convention-goers were awaiting previews and panel discussions for the films "Paul" and "Cowboys and Aliens."

The disturbance delayed the presentations for about 45 minutes. The men's names and ages have not been released.

Stafford says such incidents have been very rare at Comic-Con, San Diego's annual sci-fi and comic book convention.

The incident is being refereed to as a "scuffle" because we all know nerds don't know how to fight.

When this happened in Hall H, I'd swear over 90% of the people in there had no idea anything had happened until the nimrod up on stage got on the microphone and said "Attention everyone, there is nothing to see in the back of the room.." at which point everybody got up to look and some people started climbing up on chairs and taking photos. Then the guy started saying "Please do not stand on the chairs. Everyone sit down. There is nothing to see..."

After things got back to normal, Jon Favreau brough Harrison Ford out in handcuffs (the only way he could get him to come to his very first comic con) for the Cowboys and Aliens panel and we treated him to a seven minute standing ovation.
