Anyone here like rap music?

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

Anyone here like rap music?

Post by anarky »

I'm not trying to start a discussion, so the title might be misleading. Anyway, here's why I ask:

My brother-in-law is a rapper. He's had pretty piss-poor management for several years. (He's had several should-be big breaks, but his manager basically fucked him out of them.) Recently his contract with his douchebag manager expired and he's free.

He's recorded an album worth of good material over the past year or so, and has absolutely no concept of how to market himself. (Don't tell him that if you ever meet him. [beard]) For his upcoming birthday, I've managed to gather up a lot of his tracks and put them on a CD (with a couple of samples from films that he's mentioned in the past) and put together a decent-looking CD liner and such, so that he has something to give to agents or whatever the hell.

I'm sending a few copies to my friends to spread it around a bit more than the immediate San Diego area. No need to humor me, but if you like rap and are interested, PM me elsewhere and let me know. This is only open to folks registered here who know who I am elsewhere, and who I know both here and there, since I can't afford to send out a bazillion of these things. [:D]

I can say that, to my knowledge, this CD will be the first time a rapper has name-dropped Launchpad McQuack. [thumb]

That's interesting, Chux. I do like that rap from time to time, but I have absolutely no ability to get him any exposure. What about tossing some of the stuff up online for free download? Does that type of thing ever work?

Tossing it up online can work, just make sure you have the right copyright and aren't breakin' copyright, 'cause that can get messy. I don't mind rap, especially if it involves Launchpad, if it is done well and isn't just gangsta-whatever stuff....but I also hardly know you and don't know elsewhere, but.....if I can find a way to get him exposure for you I might ask you to send me a copy, i'll let you know.
